My only reason it’s not 5/5 is the location. It’s a bit run-down near this property. But there is a good pizza place across the street as well as a bakery. And it certainly is close to the south end of the beach. The pool is fantastic.

The property itself is well kept, nicely staged, and shows evidence of recent remodeling. In many respects, it is a perfectly suitable short-term rental.Unfortunately, the location was a significant disappointment. As other guests have noted, the surrounding area is not particularly appealing, and in its present state I found it unsuitable for walking any distance beyond the gated community. The nearby beach and town are technically close, but the route is not realistically walkable and the immediate surroundings are quite different from what the exterior property photos might suggest (perhaps seasonal variations).When traveling internationally, I generally approach things with a sense of adventure and a willingness to moderate my expectations. Even with that in mind, I found myself reluctant to venture beyond the front gate, and the nearby beach/town would not be a place I would choose to visit again.

Thank you for this review. We're glad the condo itself worked well for you, and we appreciate the candid feedback about the area. For future guests, here's the honest picture: the community is gated and sits on the road between downtown Coco and Playa Ocotal, about a six minute walk from the nearest beach entrance and a little over half a mile from town. The walk is along a typical local road rather than a promenade, and in the green season (this stay was in late August) the surroundings look and feel different than they do in the drier months. Plenty of guests enjoy the walk, while others prefer to drive or take a quick taxi, and we're always happy to help point guests to either.
