An Adirondack Retreat
Located on 33 acres of protected wilderness preserve the "Nest" guest cottage can accommodate a maximum of 7 guests. Handicapped accessible, it features a full bath and galley kitchen with stove top, toaster oven, microwave, coffee maker and full size refrigerator. The kitchen is fully equipped for guest use. The family area contains a queen size futon and day bed; the bedroom has a queen and one twin beds and a portable bed. There is no cell phone service or TV, but land line, linens and bath accessories are provided and both parking and Wifi are free.
In the town of Stony Creek, the guest cottage is within a half hour of Gore and West Mountains for skiing, Lake George, Lake Luzerne, and Sacandaga Lake for boating, fishing, horseback riding and many other types of family entertainment and sporting activities. There is a local full service bar and restaurant, The Stony Creek Inn, open between May and December with live entertainment; a local tavern, Tavern 16, open 364 days a year; and a cafe/convenience store that serves breakfast and lunch year round.
The property has abundant wildlife native to the Adirondack region with a trout fishing brook and duck pond. Wild turkey, deer, black bear, mink, and heron reside on the property and adjoining miles of state land. There is an active beaver colony on the property's back water which also provides habitat for many native birds and plants. There is a civil war era cemetery with marked and unmarked graves common to local family burial grounds. There are walking and snowshoeing trails that thread through the property for interesting nature walks.
The guest cottage is equipped for winter stays with a wood stove, propane heaters and radiated heaters in the kitchen and bath. Meals can also be catered in for special events. Guests have full access to the entire property during their stay.
The cottage may be rented with or without kitchen use at a lower rate. Rates are seasonally adjusted with highest prices during the peak season from June through October. Rates also vary based on the number of guests. Weekly rates are available.
If you are seeking a quiet location for a get away that is also close to everything, this may be your destination. There are no lights to disturb star gazing and virtually no traffic which makes for a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of city life or the glare of neon lights. If you are looking for rustic elegance in the Adirondacks look no further. Relax on the deck overlooking the pond, cook out on the gas or charcoal grills or enjoy the large firepit. Guests are welcome to pick blueberries, apples, raspberries and blackberries in season.
The owner, a retired university administrator and active management consultant, lives in the main lodge (lodge guest rooms currently unavailable due to renovations) on the property and is generally available to respond to guest needs.

I had a wonderful weekend with my wife. The location is truly a highlight - secluded, peaceful and surrounded by nature. The cabin itself was clean, well equipped and overall comfortable. My only critique would be the WiFi which was spotty at times. Still, if you’re looking for a quiet retreat this is a great choice.
Great place to get away from the stresses of every day life

Quaint, quiet, and just what we needed
We had a great time during our stay. We used this as a base for our trip, and we enjoyed the view of the pond and the quietness of the property. It was a bit tucked away but was a nice drive and had everything we needed.
My brother and I were pleased with the accommodations here. The location is very remote, so bring all the food you need for your stay, as there are very few stores nearby.
Was very relaxing and just what we wanted away for long island traffic and trains we just enjoyed the back yard and the fire place and just chilled out we very much enjoyed it and Sue was a a great host aextento
The cottage was very clean with an extremely comfortable bed and well-stocked modern kitchen with quality appliances. Lots of windows which overlooked a beautiful backyard with mature trees made out stay relaxing. Quiet and peaceful setting
The view was amazing that was the only good part. My husnband and I stayed for two days. Took us 45 minutes to get the cabin clean. There were mouse droppings on counter and other places. The bed linen had nasy stains on it. The celing was fallin in, in the living room. There was dog hair all over the cabin floor. Looked like no one had bothered at all to clean. Very disappointed
Absolutely loved it! Didn’t expect it to be so far away from everything but still enjoyed every minute. Definitely a breathtaking nature environment. My fiancé is a city person so the atmosphere grew on him❤️
The cabin was wonderful. Despite freezing conditions outside, the cabin was very cozy, and we were provided with many heating options. It is very secluded, but there is plenty to do in the cabin - puzzles and games were provided, and there's a tv in the main room. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking and baking utensils, and it's clear a lot of consideration has gone into the accommodations to make a visit as enjoyable as possible.
Overall wonderful experience and we look forward to visiting again soon (ideally in warmer weather).
My husband and I stayed here while celebrate my 35th birthday and we had a lovely time. The property is out of the way in tiny Stony Creek but getting to Lake George and surrounding towns was easy enough and being there was peqceful and relaxing. It was very cold outside while we were there but we were very warm inside with all the heaters and the fireplace. It also gets great natural light inside during the daytime, the photos don’t do it justice. Much recommended, thank you Sue!
It was a pleasant stay in these cabin, everything Is there for cooking. Cabin is bigger than it looks on photo & Sue always reply if I have a question. The road is scenic and 30-40 mins drive to lake George village. Follow Sue instruction how to get there, our navigation made a short cut and got us in a very narrow zigzag road by the mountains, not sure what town but it’s very dark and look dangerous to drive at night. Overall our stay is pleasant and quiet.

Nice host, unclean property
Being polite, let’s say mice are quite in evidence and for a long time. We cleaned in one day more than has been done in weeks or months. Electrical issues. Sporadic WiFi. Beautiful outside, many nooks and crannies to enjoy nature, fire pit, deck, chairs. Host took care of a billing issue as best she could with VRBO and helped us park safely. But not returning.
Couldn't check in until 6 P.M.. Since it was rainy autumn day, it got dark early. Good thing my driving directions (which I looked up on google) were accurate because there wasn't any cell phone service. It was an adventure, but worth it. Hope I can return to enjoy the area. It could use some better curtains. I couldn't find much info on the location or lack of TV until after I had booked it!

Just okay
If you want to stay in a quiet place, this is it, but the cabin is right next to the main lodge which is not evident in the pictures or description.
If you want a clean place, this is not your best bet. I understand it is a cabin in the woods, but the spider webs inside could have been removed before we arrived. The dishes and dish drainer were dirty, so we washed dishes before and after we used them. The windows had smudges and handprints on them and the kitchen table was sticky.
We would have enjoyed it more if it was clean when we arrived, especially considering the price per night and the fact that guests are asked to sweep, vacuum, clean all surfaces and strip all the beds before you leave. Even though there is supposed to be a cleaning company.

Bug City
Booked for four nights, stayed for two. The property had an old broken down truck parked in front of the cabin. That cute little deck over looking the pond? Rotted out. And the bugs. Because the property had clearly not been mowed in awhile and the mowing was not done either far enough in advance nor was it far enough back, there were just gnats everywhere. We tried every anti-bug method we could think of and we were still swarmed every time we walked outside. Even my dog didn't want to go into the yard. The supposed trails were neither marked nor mowed. The shower drain was not working; we ended up plunging it. Overall, run down and not at all as described.
The best points were that is is quiet and there is a lovely view of the night sky. Lovely song birds.
I loved it. Wood stove. Clean mountain air. Cozy quarters. Population of Stony Brook, NY - 600. Walk a quarter mile in the woods behind you and you come close enough to a beaver dam that you can touch it. Leave your cell phone at home, you can't get texts or wifi, although you can get wifi on your laptop. I went by myself for a retreat and this was the perfect place. Highly recommended.
This property was more than we hoped for! It was clean and ready for our arrival. It is very comfortable and well stocked. We found the property and surrounding area to be picturesque and peaceful. Sue answered all of our questions very quickly. We would recommend this property to anyone looking for a peaceful get away.
