About this property

A large family home overlooking Bude Golf Course & close to the beach

Sleeping up to eight guests in style and comfort across four bedrooms, this elegant and spacious Bude holiday cottage is full of Edwardian charm and homely comforts. It’s brilliantly situated, being within easy reach of the town, Bude’s beautiful beaches and the South West Coast Path so you can quite easily leave the car parked up for the week and soak up this little slice of Cornish heaven…
Located on the north Cornish coast in the popular seaside town of Bude, this gorgeous family friendly house enjoys modern comforts whilst keeping true to its Edwardian origins. Whether it’s a summer family holiday or a get together with friends, this Bude holiday cottage offers comfort, cheer and charm and is dog-friendly.

Inside
Nestled on a quiet road overlooking the picturesque green fields of Bude golf course, you’ll find this pretty, redbrick Bude holiday home. Through the front garden gate and up the little path, you enter the home and are greeted with an entrance hall, which has historic charm with its beautiful original flooring. There’s ample space for relaxing at You, Me & The Sea with all communal rooms on the ground floor, including two lounges. The first lounge is wonderfully cosy; the perfect place to gather for movie night or for quality time spent around the open fireplace. Just next to this is the snug which is used as a games room; here you’ll find a second TV, table football and large sofa, making it an ideal den for children or those who want some separate space to relax.

Towards the end of the hallway is the large and exceptionally well equipped kitchen and dining area, which has been modernised yet retains aspects of historical charm. Here, you’ll find gorgeous stripped wooden flooring and an original Rayburn (for decorative purposes), providing a homely rustic atmosphere. There’s ample worktop and cupboard space, as well as appliances ranging from a Smeg range cooker to a Nespresso coffee machine, plus a dining table for eight — ideal when catering for larger celebratory gatherings. Through the kitchen and towards the back, you’ll find a utility room and downstairs contemporary bathroom with walk in shower.

All bedrooms are located upstairs. The master king ensuite overlooks the front of the house, enjoying sweeping views of the golf course. It’s a bright yet cosy room, with ample Cornish light entering through the large windows; settle into one of the armchairs with a good book or enjoy stepping out onto the little balcony to inhale the fresh morning air. The master bedroom enjoys an original feature fireplace and modern ensuite with walk in rainfall shower. Along the hall you’ll find a spacious double, plus a twin room which overlooks the back garden. Lastly, there is a bunk bedroom suitable for children or small adults. Completing the upstairs is a family bathroom, with shower over bath.

Outside
You, Me & The Sea benefits from having an enclosed, private garden - perfect for a barbecue and dining alfresco on a summer’s evening, or for lazy afternoons catching the Cornish sunshine throughout the day. Just directly across from this Bude holiday cottage is a footpath which takes you on a pleasant ten minute stroll across the Summerleaze Downs, towards Bude’s bustling town where there's an array or restaurants to try and shops to explore. Otherwise, Crooklets beach is just an easy 15 minute stroll west. Upon returning from a day of surfing, swimming and sunbathing at the beach — make sure to check out the numerous surf schools like Bude Surfing Experience - make use of the garage where there’s ample space to safely store wetsuits and bodyboards.

Things to love
One of the best things about You, Me & The Sea is it’s location - you can enjoy staying in a peaceful area yet still be close enough to the hustle and bustle of both the town and beaches - as well as Bude's famous sea pool. After a day spent adventuring, enjoy returning to this beautiful Bude holiday cottage for a barbecue in the sheltered garden, or take an easy stroll west to watch a beautiful Cornish sunset at Crooklets beach. Whether you're looking for a golfing break with friends, a seaside family holiday or a dog-friendly base to explore the South West Coast Path, You, Me & The Sea offers contemporary comfort whilst retaining historic charm and a 'home from home' feeling.

Lovely accommodation

The property is extremely well appointed with everything you need for a great holiday. Easy walking to the beach and town, with plenty of eating places nearby. James, the property manager, is great, every enquiry answered promptly and we really enjoyed a the meal catered for us in the house by Nicky.

Superb property

The property was exactly as described and turned out to be more spacious than we expected. Loads of room upstairs and downstairs and a nice little garden area. Parking was never a problem. Only minor criticisms the room with the bunk beds is small for 2 teenage girls and recycling bins would have been handy but easy enough to use Sainsbury’s. Would definitely stay again.

Hi Philip, thank you for taking the time to write a review on Arden House. We will certainly discuss the bunks for next season. Also, there are recycling bins provided, but they were in the garage so perhaps not that easy to find. We do take our ' impact' very seriously. We would love to welcome you back to Bude or indeed Widemouth in one of our lovely properties. J

Lovely, spacious house in a good location

We enjoyed the house which was clean and offered good facilities. A little further away from the beach than I thought when booking but still near enough to walk. Lots of reception areas and good size, comfortable bedrooms with 3 bathrooms. It would have been even better if there was an outside shower area for after the beach and/or a hose for washing out wetsuits. A hanging rail in the garage for hanging wetsuits would also have been useful. Although I am not a regular tumble drier user, the weather was grim all week and a tumble drier would have been useful just to dry off very damp clothing now and again. Overall, a good place to stay.

Annual Family Holiday

The property is in a great location in Bude - close to local amenities & the beaches. The house is a great size for a big family or 2 families together. Three bathrooms, 2 living rooms & a big kitchen. The new rental rules surrounding Covid - getting taken to extreme- through endless emails, text messages and info left at the property. The property was not as clean as they like to make out. From dead spiders, insects on windowsill, floor mop never been cleaned, dust on pictures. There was also a water leak/damp issue in the hallway from the upstairs en-suite. Damp in the kitchen. The fridge was temperamental and caused food waste. It would of been good to be left some tea towels to use & oven gloves. Especially when they provide bedding & towels.

Thank you for your feedback Heidi - I appreciate you taking the time to send this across to us. I would like to offer comment to the items you refer to as it is very important to us. First and foremost, I do not agree with comment regarding ' endless emails and communication relating to Covid 19' - you are certainly the first person to flag that as an issue :-) All our communication is purposeful, necessary and accurate - in order to offer incoming guests reassurance in our approach & also protect our hard working house keeping teams - working in the face of one of the highest regional spikes in Covid 19 anywhere in the country. It is imperative we remind guests of their responsibilities upon exiting the houses as it would be negligent if we did not. We have had rare incidents where people have not been respectful of this & I personally find that disrespectful. My wife is a doctor so I have seen first hand the impact of Covid 19 during the past 18 months and am confident in our stance. All our communication to ( joining instructions etc) also clearly requests that if you discover any problems with the property during your stay / upon arrival - please let us know so that we can action this with expediency to avoid impact to your holiday - on this occasion you did not reach out to us until posting this review - can I ask why that might be? If we aren't told, we cannot act nor investigate. There should have been oven gloves and tea towels in place for you upon arrival, I have flagged this with House Keeping to ascertain what went wrong. I value feedback as its the only way we get better. J

Wonderful stay

Bude is a fabulous place and Arden House is a great place to stay. The location is ideal - a short walk to 2 beaches and to the town centre, and with a beautiful view over the golf course. The house is very well equipped and the beds were really comfortable. However, the house is not as clean or well maintained as I expected for somewhere billed as luxury. It really needs a coat of paint in several areas and a proper clean of the woodwork, under beds, etc. I'm being quite picky here, but it's an expensive rental marketed as an elite property and I would expect it to be spotless. That said, we had a fantastic fortnight staying here and I would return.

A real retreat and recharged our batteries

Arden House was home away from home, with an exceptionally well-stocked kitchen, logs for the fire and a welcome gift of tea and milk to help us arrive and put the kettle on. James the property manager was superb in his communication and gave good advice about local restaurants and pubs he would recommend. the house over looks the golf course and you can see the sea from the front balcony....all in all, we did not want to leave....a piece of us stayed in Bude....we will return, thank you

Great house & location.

A lovely house , a short walk from the town and Crooklets beach. Enough room for us and our grown up children (8 adults ) and our dogs. The kitchen is huge and well equipped easily cooking a roast dinner or just preparing snacks. The parking is free and we had no problem parking the cars near the house which is a bonus. A good location if you want to get out & about . The back living room was well stocked with games & DVDs and a football table. Overall a fabulous house.

Lovely Homely House - Book it now

We spent a great week in Arden House in Bude, Cornwall. The house room enough for all 7 of us and felt very homely. The house has everything you could want and really good location with plenty of on street parking. The views from the master bedroom are spectacular my friends were jealous! With Bude being one of my favourite places in the world we will definitely be back!

Great holiday house

Beautiful house in a great position. Easy for walks into town, beach and along the coast path. Arden house was well equipped... lots of essentials that sometimes you forget to take away! (not always the case in some rental properties. ) For 2 families there was more than enough space and the boys loved the ‘games room’ . Would highly recommend this house !

Arden House - charming and perfect location

Arden House is a spacious and well appointed holiday home in a superb location. Take the footpath across the golf course for an easy walk into Bude town centre, or its only a 10 minute walk down to Crooklets Beach with access to the beaches, sea pool and coastal paths. The kitchen is huge and all the rooms and bedrooms are furnished and equipped to a high standard. The downstairs toilet and shower room was great when arriving back from having been in the sea and on the beach, with a lovely garden for the dogs to play in when not out for walks. We have already booked for next year!

Charming family home

Arden House is a traditional house retaining many original features which nevertheless provides a modern family space to enjoy a relaxed holiday. The downstairs living space provides a large area for families to play together or find a corner to have a quiet time. The second sitting room for the children is a real boon. The upstairs layout is delightful and again provides a lovely family space. The large kitchen is a real bonus for happy noisy families. As with all the properties we have had with Elite West (this was our 5th year) the situation is superb to enjoy all the the lovely town of Bude can offer. We have already booked for next year!

Wonderful Cornwal, wonderful Arden House!

We spent a wonderful 2 weeks in Arden House in Bude, Cornwall. We stayed in the house with 7 adults and there was room enough for everyone! All the rooms are lovely, the big kitchen is great for cooking/eating with a large group. The views from the master bedroom are spectacular! The Bude beaches are great for surfing, sunbathing, rockpooling etc. Bude is a lovely town. Cornwall is sensational. We will definitely be back!

Fantastic family accommodation

We stayed at Arden House for Whit. There were four adults and four children and the house was spacious enough for all. We had everything we needed and items were of good quality, especially crockery and pans which can sometimes be a let down in holiday rentals. The property was really clean, nicely decorated and was very comfortable. The house is in a great location, quiet but only a short walk both to the beach and the town centre. You can easily walk to both beaches but with the amount of beach stuff we had it was easier to pack up the car. We went to Summerleaze, Widemouth and Sandymouth beaches and they were all fab and the kids spent most of the time with their boogie boards(wetsuits a must at the end of May!) We would recommend day trips to Padstow and Clovelly if it's not beach weather and the Bush Inn a couple of miles away has good food in a beautiful setting. In Bude there are plenty of pasty shops and ice-cream places and is good for a little wander. There are two supermarkets close by for everything you need. Overall Arden house is one of the best places in England we have stayed and I would highly recommend booking accommodation through Elite West holidays who were responsive and professional. We had loads of fresh sea air and It was great watching the kids on the beach and forgetting the computer games for a week! We intend to return to Bude again next year.

A RETURN VISIT TO THE BEAUTIFUL ARDEN HOUSE

This is our second visit to Arden House (our first being in March 2010) and we were all still totally smitten with this beautiful family home. It has everything going for it - the house is excellently maintained, beautifully clean and has everything you need and more. The master bedroom is amazing and is bright and spacious with a great en-suite bathroom and the downstairs rooms are excellent for all the family, as there is plenty of space to spread about. It is in a great location with great views of the golf course, access to the shops and only a 5-10 minute walk to the beach. All the information provided by Elite West Holidays was really useful to and is obviously updated regularly, as we have now holidayed with them 4 times since 2009 and have relied on this information each time to guide us to the current best places to eat, etc. I would have no problem recommending this house or Elite West Holidays to a friend or relative and to emphasis the point in August we are due to spend our 5th holiday in Bude organised through Elite West Holidays.
