THE SURROUNDINGS:

The cottage and its charming yard are a self-contained retreat for anyone looking for quiet relaxation, but guests are also at the doorstep of one of the northeast’s hidden gems, Litchfield County. It is full of classic New England charm (rolling farmland, stone walls, and historic villages), amazing food (local farm stands for home cooking and world class restaurants for dining out), and countless opportunities to get active outdoors.

Quiet Norfolk has a cafe, library, book store, general store, and a few other small businesses. It comes to life in summer, as it is the home of Yale's Chamer Music Festival. After a day of hiking or swimming, enjoy a picnic on the town green followed by a concert in the historic music "Shed".

This property was exactly as described and even better. It is a small gem of an historic house, with beautiful hardwood floors and a serene ambience. As small as the house was, the rooms were spacious. The bathroom was large and comfortable. The owner was easy to communicate with. I would recommend this property without reservation.

We had an amazing stay at the cozy cottage. It was a perfect place for our stay & for our wedding nearby, but I would recommend the owners emphasize online that this place is not for older senior citizens who may struggle using the steep and small stairs inside the cottage. We did not have any issues. We enjoyed everything that was needed was in the cottage whether to cook, clean, relax, and wifi was great & easy. We brought many items thinking they would not be readily available at the cottage, but we were pleasantly mistaken as the cottage had everything we needed. Some suggestions below:Should provide fire alarm code in the manual book in case the fire alarm accidentally goes off when cooking as it did for us. Several air conditioners were periodically rattling when turned on. Pressing on the A.C. unit helped damper the noise but would not necessarily eliminate the noise. The A.C. units that were causing this issue were the master bedroom on the 2nd floor facing the front of the house and the living room A.C. The rattling noise would start many minutes after turning on the A.C.We believe there was no lock on the bedroom doors. If this is the case, it would be nice to have a door lock.We noticed online on Vrbo that check out was stated as 3PM, but in the manual it lists check out as 12PM. Did not affect us as we departed early.Consider an antenna for TV for entertainment.Thank you for an amazing stay! We will stay again if in the area!Richard & Family

Thank you Richard, for your thoughtful review. We are new to hosting, so we will certainly take all of these points into consideration. We have since updated our alarm system to allow guests to turn off the smoke alarm and fixed the A/C units (they were just installed a day before your stay). Our TV has ample streaming apps which guests are welcome to use (via our accounts if needed). We apologize for not updating you on the new check-out time, as it was not a problem for us that you stay the full time. Thank you for staying with us!
