About this property
Lovely, Spacious & Sunny: Sleeps 6 - Near Duke, UNC & Downtown Durham w/ Nature!
Sweet, sunny, quiet neighborhood with older homes and trees. Open concept foyer, kitchen and living room. Living / dining room is large with stuffed reading chairs (a little worn but cozy). The bedrooms are super-comfortable , with either pillow top or memory foam beds. Pictures and plants make it more a home than just a rental.
The property is the full main floor of the house (1450 square feet), with the addition of access to the laundry in the lower level. The lower level is a completely separate apartment home with a separate entrance at the back. The only exception is the laundry area which is shared. Your host family is in this apartment and a tiny home at the back of the property.
Your house is very large, fully furnished, with linens, all kitchenware. Neighborhood is quiet, and home backs up to a back yard with woods. Easy access from 15/501 highway.
The living room is spacious and sunny, with comfortable sofa and chairs that are perfect for resting, reading or laptop-working. It also includes a full dining area with old dark wood table. The living room provides a beautiful view of the woods at the back of the house.
Kitchen is fully outfitted, and is also very sunny. It includes a second full dining area. It faces the front of the house with a large yard giving more spaciousness to the interior.
The master bedroom has light true oak furniture, and includes a private bath with shower. There are two large windows, with an additional one in the master bath.
The second bedroom is the next largest, with a pillow top mattress bed, also queen. This room has two large windows, one of which faces east and the back yard and trees.
The third bedroom is small, but still feels relatively expansive due to the large east-facing window, the light grey walls, and the furniture all white. There is extra drawer storage under the bed. The bedrooms have separate deadbolt locks if you wish to secure any items when you are out of the house. Neighborhood, however, is secure.
The second bathroom has a tub. It is in the hallway, and shared by the two bedrooms.
There is a full-size self-inflating air mattress, with linens. Just advise if this is needed.
It is an older home, so please expect there to be some elements that are worn and may need repair. If you prefer a newer more pristine home, this likely won't serve your needs. However, it is a sweet, large and quiet space - so it is based on what you prefer.
The house has solar panels, a part-wild flower yard, and has environmentally kind cleaners.
The house is on the edge of Duke Forest, so is close to many wonderful trails (you will need to drive a bit to get to them as the yards are sloped without sidewalks). The Tobacco Campus/Trail is nearby for biking.

About the host
Hosted by Sadhya

I'm an older person! :D, but not at heart. I have been renting rooms, homes for almost 40 years, and have always enjoyed making nice spaces available for people. Professionally I am an analyst, personally I love nature and music and am addicted to audio books.
Why they chose this property
I moved to the Durham area almost 10 years ago as this was the place I wanted to live. It took me a bit to find this home, and I knew it was it when I first looked at it. The house was built in 1960, but the main floor was fully remodeled. It is so close to downtown, but is in this old-fashioned neighborhood - where no house looks like another. It bumps up to a small woods, and being so close to Duke Forest, there are owls and hawks (the screech owl is my favorite).
What makes this property unique
Just that it is an old home in a large yard in a quiet area with tons of sun. It has character, just like people as we get older. :)
