Arrive during the day bc it is not an easy find! Cool and very eclectic and quaint. The host company was very responsive and we’re grateful for that bc it was freezing in there and we couldn’t figure out the propane heater at first! The post is a little vague. First off, this place is cool, but I have no clue as to where a 5th person could sleep. They advertise bunk beds, when in fact they’re separated into 2 individual twin beds with one being in the living area and the second being in a screened in porch that was cold and barely had a screen door lock on it so not very secure at all. There is NO washer and dryer! Linens were minimal and everyone froze bc we were leery of propane heater since there are no smoke or carbon monoxide detectors. The shower curtain in the stand up shower “attacks”You the whole time you shower and the water pressure was almost too much. Kinda painful. Around the area are bushes with the longest thorns, flip floppers BE WARNED! There is no tv, but WiFi is availble. The kitchen chairs felt like they’re about to break so we stood mostly. The balcony, the SECOND we opened the door, the hinge broke off and the door would barely open. We basically left it alone bc the host claimed no one reported any issues, but clearly it was “pieced back together” and someone eventually will be hit with a repair so I’d avoid the balcony at all costs. The sunrises and sunsets were amazing while walking our dog. Loved the area and will return, maybe.

Our whole family loved this home and property…even our dog! This was our first ever Vrbo rental and we WILL be coming back here again!!! The house was impeccably clean and equipped with everything we needed. It has great desert charm and the view from the balcony and hammock is fabulous. Our entire trip’s purpose was stargazing at Big Bend, but the dark sky view from the balcony and yard is exquisite in its own right. Big Bend was an easy drive and a scenic round trip to and from the rental. Our host was SUPER responsive… available immediately or within minutes when we had questions. Marathon is marvelously quirky; within a block there are mini-mansions, RV’s, and old trailers. This house is a beautiful little oasis, reminiscent of a beach house but with a desert vibe. We were inspired by the unique decor and took a ton of photos for inspiration for our own home. You, your kids, and your pets will not regret staying here!
