About this property

Cabin rental near Cedar Point, Lake Erie, with Hot Tub, Campfire Pit, Gas Grill

Dancing Fox is in keeping with our circa 1842 farmstead home ambiance. Often early settlers would build a prairie style cabin on the same property prior to building a more permanent home and Dancing Fox Cabin is a reflection and our vision of one of those early structures, yet features the comforts we all enjoy.

With it’s rural locale setting, barn wood exterior, interior walls sheathed in white-washed with 1800s boards, wide-plank antique pine flooring, hand-made cabinetry with vintage chalkboard counter tops and barn beam framing…you will be enveloped by the subtle feelings of our pioneers, a sense of soothing well-being and one of a simpler more calmer lifestyle yet features all your modern amenities.

The Dancing Fox Cabin is your opportunity to experience what most lodging in Ohio doesn't offer. Imagine as you follow its pathway to your front porch, stepping across the threshold of an original swinging barn door and upon entry you'll begin feasting your eyes, spirit and senses upon … another time and another place.

Our settler-style cabin may become an unforgettable highlight during your visit to our area. Our initial goal was to utilize in the building process as many reclaimed, recycled, vintage and antique materials as possible in the construction of this self-built structure. To this end result, we were quite successful. Approximately 95% of its total materials have been salvaged and re-purposed from various sources. The blending of all these various components into a harmonious finished product is one that is memorable, soothing, and yet to many, exciting. As different as the exterior’s first impression may be, the cabin’s interior is where your visual senses will be captivated. Wherever your eyes and hands rove you will discover subtly aged textures, hand created items and coordinated color palettes that enhance the feelings of subtle rustic relaxation. These time worn nuances now re-shed their light from simpler by-gone days and are captured by our cabin’s cozy comfortable environment. The lasting effect is one you won't forget. “Memories are made at Dancing Fox Cabin.”

Our cabin resides behind our 1842 farm home on our “off the beaten path” farmland environment with plenty of privacy which removes you from both the heavy traffic and people congestion normally associated with other vacation rentals. Our centralized location is very convenient to the multitudes of attractions, events and activities found throughout the entire north central Ohio region. Lake Erie’s south shore, Cedar Point Amusement Park, fishing, boating, antique shops and flea markets, dining, golfing, historical attractions, wineries and festivals are all within quick and easy driving distances. Major highways such as the Ohio 80/90 Turnpike, U.S. State Rt. 20 and others are practically at your doorstep and conveniences for groceries and other necessities are only minutes away.

One of life’s most exciting pleasures is creating unique lasting memories for our guests. As travelers ourselves, we seek out the creative and unique lodging experiences, one that will be remembered, talked about and shared with others for years to come. Knowing the history of our 1842 home and understanding how families lived while building their main family home such as ours, we decided to share and offer an experience to others. For over a year, we scoured, gathered and tore down a building here and there to locate salvaged materials, re-purposed items, and gently used pieces and parts from various locations throughout our 4+ county area and some items as far as south in Florida. After we felt we had enough materials gathered, the challenging process of building began. After 1.5 years of non-stop hard work, not to mention the creative thinking that had to go into the building process to make all the parts and pieces fit and come together, Dancing Fox was born and we absolutely love it! To us, it's a treasure trove of local history, stories and ourselves. We promise, you will remember Dancing Fox Cabin too.

What makes this property unique

One-of-kind cabin in Ohio and rated in the top 10 in the United States for being highly re-purposed utilizing salvaged materials, being eco-friendly while guests enjoy all the creature comforts. It may seem a little rustic, but you will soon find out it's one of the most unexpected comfortable accommodations that you will enjoy.
