I can’t wait for you to start your day with a view from the breakfast table on the idyllic “Island of Little Birds” on Lakenesjön! Or would you prefer to have breakfast outside in the large garden, perhaps in the partial shade under the pine tree? The choice is yours! The house is beautifully furnished and offers plenty of options even when the weather isn’t cooperating. You can relax in the living room on the comfortable corner sofa to read, watch a DVD, watch the fire crackle, cook together in the spacious kitchen, or simply retreat to one of the three bedrooms to unwind. And when it gets cold, the massive wooden sauna in the basement comes in handy. It’s housed in a cosy relaxation room with a table, three wicker chairs, and two lounge chairs. A nice touch: the second bathroom with a shower is right next door! And since you probably don’t want to be shopping all the time, you’ll appreciate the large kitchen refrigerator and the freezer in the basement.<br><br>Shopping and Information Options: The nearest supermarket with a petrol station is in Randa, 11 km away, but for larger shopping trips, you can safely drive to Hagfors or Ekshärad (both about 20 km away). There you’ll find almost everything you need (ICA, supermarkets, speciality shops, a pharmacy, a medical centre, ...). In Hagfors, you can get information and advice from the local tourist information office. <br><br>Excursions and things to do: Whether you’re looking to go fishing on Lake Lakenesjön in an aluminium canoe, prefer to hike through the neighbouring forests to the higher-altitude lakes, or swim at the picturesque peninsula: Rest and relaxation are guaranteed. Or perhaps a bike ride around the lake? It’s a bit more challenging but well worth the effort: The old railway line in Karlstad (Klarälvsbanan) has been converted into a beautiful bike path that stretches 90 km along the Klarälv River—with no steep inclines! For those who prefer something more adventurous: in Gunnerud (10 km) You can rent large wooden rafts so you can use them to paddle down the wide river with poles for oars. <br>Still haven’t seen a moose? You can do just that at “Moosepark” (10 km). There, you’ll learn lots of details and get up close to these large animals—taking photos and interacting with them. <br>Finally, many museums and art exhibitions in the area are waiting for you to visit.<br><br>Lakene in winter: In winter, snow is a given here. In Ekshärad (20 km), Sunne (50 km), or Hovfjället near Torsby (80 km, 13 slopes, and 550 m elevation), there are ski resorts. Or you can simply go cross-country skiing nearby. Ice skating and ice fishing are possible on the frozen Lakenesjön. Sweden’s southernmost sleigh dog team is located in Sunnemo, 26 km away.
