I booked my parents into Lane's hotel style accommodation while my family and I stayed in another one of his larger units in a building about a minute away. The location was incredible (only a one minute walk to the waterfront). The unit was very clean, comfy and the exposed bricks and historic features were really interesting and cool to be immersed in. Another cool feature was that the Lieutenant Governor's mansion, which is a pretty famous Halifax attraction, was directly across the street. My parents loved it and said they would definitely stay here again! Lane was great to deal with and I want to stay with him the next time I am on the east cost.
The property is very well located, super close to the boardwalk and via rail station and Pier 21. It was clean and quite well equipped. However it was on the third floor with no lift so lugging suitcases up was not easy. The photo did not exactly match the actual room we got. The bed was too soft and the pillows very skimpy. There was tea and coffee provided but the tea was in an unmarked ziplock bag and no idea which kind it was. It smelled old and stale. The air conditioner was extremely loud. There was no bedside lamp on one side. The room was quite small and so we felt overall it was overpriced for what we got. At $100 less per night I would say it would have been a good place for a night or two. Definitely not ideal for many nights nor for heavy luggage. But very convenient for anyone going by train like us.
