About this property
Charming 1-bedroom cottage -- That tiny house on Center Hill Lake. Pet friendly!
Embraced by nature on a wooded point above Center Hill Lake, this cottage features a living area with a kitchenette, a small master suite of a bedroom and a modern bath with a walk-in shower. Under sheltering pine, poplar, and hickory trees, this intimate getaway offers quiet and comfort along with small rock gardens adding color and texture to its surroundings. It is elegance with simplicity and style. I'm glad you found this woodland treasure; I look forward to hosting you!
The living area has a comfy love seat and a coffee table with a top that can be lifted to become a workstation or an artist's table. A computer workstation with a pull-out seat stands in a corner. Also available are WiFi and a TV.
The kitchenette has a bistro table, a refrigerator, a two-burner radiant cooktop, a small microwave, a coffee maker, and a toaster. The cupboards contain dinnerware, glassware, and serving dishes as well as cookware plus cooking and eating utensils. Other stocked items include tea, coffee, salt and pepper, sugar, artificial sweetener, paper towels, and cleaning agents. If you'd like something additional, please ask.
The bedroom has a full-size bookcase captain's bed with three drawers. The bookcase has shelves, a storage compartment, a built-in charging/power station, and two touch lamps with power/charging ports. The remote-controlled ceiling light and fan provide ample light and quiet cooling. There is a small closet in the pass-through to the bathroom. The bathroom features a pedestal sink with a rollout storage cart underneath and a wall niche in the left wall. The porcelain shower has a large shower head, a small window, a wall niche, and a folding glass door. The toilet is a push button dual flush. The cabinet over it contains extra linens and storage space.
The cottage is pet-friendly and smoke-free, including vaping. It has a smoke detector and a fire extinguisher.
Wildlife flourishes around the cottage. We maintain feeders for birds. Wild turkeys visit to nibble off what falls from the feeders. Deer arrive usually at dusk or early morning, and we provide food and feeders for them. Large turtles make their way upslope from the lake, slowly returning to the water hours later. Occasionally, you may see a snake sunning itself, but most stay within the thick woods close to the lake. Raptors and black or turkey vultures soar over the slopes. Song birds call and sing from early morning to early evening. Field mice scurry around old tree stumps and rocky outcrops, along with squirrels, bunnies, chipmunks, and insects. This is their home.
Activities and destinations abound in this region -- hiking, boating, swimming, water skiing, kayaking, canoeing, bird watching, Destinations include Burgess Falls State Park (20 min drive), Cummins Falls State Park (40 min drive), Window Cliffs State Natural Area (12 min drive), Edgar Evans State Park (35 min drive), Cookeville and Tennessee Tech are just 30 min away. The Appalachian Center for Craft is a 35 min drive. A small boat launch is just a few minutes away, on a lake shore.
The host is on site and able to meet additional requests, even for pets, and can offer a laundry facility -- washer, dryer, pet washing station.
This tiny house is perfect for a couple or a lone visitor seeking a quiet space that's more than just a vacation spot; it's an unhurried tranquil experience.

About the host
Hosted by Beverly A Freed

Having grown up abroad and back home in the US, I've relished my long journey of life in large metropolitan areas, small rural towns, in the mountains, on the seacoast, always learning and loving how we can be different in so many ways, yet steadfast in our appreciation for kindness.
I'm an animal lover with a few cats and dogs who think of me as "Mom." The cats and dogs get along, watch out for one another, and sometimes annoy one another. It's a family. If you bring your pets and need something, please reach out to me.
About 20 years ago, I founded a nonprofit to rescue animals in need. Ten years ago, I built one of the first cat cafes in the USA, and it still operates, hosting cats awaiting their future pet parents.
In addition, I'm a writer and a mediocre musician. If you're inclined to music, let me know; I have an assortment of instruments that I enjoy but don't play all that well. Perhaps you will make them happy.

Why they chose this property
I love this area because it is surrounded by woodlands above a lake. I suppose you could say that I bought a view that had a house on it. It also had a small cottage that I expanded and remodeled so others could spend time here.
What makes this property unique
This charming cozy cottage offers what most vacation homes offer, but on a small scale with an intimate environment for one person or two. It is tiny, convenient, and mostly quiet. I describe it as "mostly quiet" because it's nestled amid wildlife: frogs, deer, squirrels, birds, possums, wild turkeys.
