Such a nice stay. Everything was clean and all the beds were comfy. Overall our family was very comfortable and happy here. Especially loved snuggling into the deep sofa and watching a movie together. Host was communicative and thoughtful.
Unfortunately, our stay did not meet expectations based on the listing. The property was advertised as a private residence; however, we were not informed that other guests would be staying on the lower level of the home. This lack of disclosure was concerning and made us feel misled.During our stay, the guests downstairs played loud music late into the night, and we had to contact the host to address the noise. It appeared the host was already aware of the situation. Communication overall was poor — we reached out regarding basic amenities, including additional towels and washcloths (there were not enough towels for the number of guests and no washcloths provided at all), and did not receive a response. In addition, the keypad lock did not work properly and we were locked out twice. When attempting to contact the host, our calls went straight to voicemail. At one point, we had to enter through the lower level of the home, unaware that other occupants were staying there. Thankfully, that door was unlocked. We also had to climb through a window because the front door would not open. This raised serious safety concerns. The bedrooms also had an ant infestation, which made the stay uncomfortable.Due to the inaccurate listing, lack of transparency about shared occupancy, malfunctioning entry access, insufficient amenities, pest issues, and limited communication from the host, we did not feel comfortable or fully safe during our stay.
Good neighborhood but falsely listed as private rental
I booked this home to visit family in the area. The location was nice; however, we had several issues with the rental, most alarming was that someone was living in the shared basement even though the house was listed as an entire, private home. There were some other oddities such as a lack of clean sheets on one of the beds, prescription medications in the refrigerator, and a lack of response from the host who did not provide entrance instructions until several hours after the check-in time or the wifi information for 24 hours after checking in. VRBO customer service did nothing to remedy our poor experience, which was very disappointing.
The house was clean, and the beds were comfortable, though the metal frames were quite noisy whenever we rolled over. There were no washcloths provided and only about one and a half rolls of toilet paper for five people over two nights. We had some supplies in our car, so we didn’t contact the host, but I assume they would have taken care of it if we had asked. The ice dispenser in the fridge door didn’t work, so we had to dig the ice out from inside or pull out the bucket to get any.Our biggest issue was that we weren’t aware someone would be staying below us, or that people would be in the courtyard right outside our bedroom windows. This was clearly mentioned on a different site of the listing, but I didn’t see it noted in the Vrbo listing. There were also a few odd details — half a bottle of mouthwash and toothpaste in the medicine cabinet, nearly empty body wash in the shower next to a full one, and a few packages delivered to the house during our stay. A fan would have also been helpful to get air circulating through the house, as the rooms stayed quite warm at night without a breeze. Finally, while the listing mentions “plenty of free parking,” that felt a bit overstated. There is parking available, but it’s shared and can fill up quickly. We arrived late and had to park up the hill, so plan to arrive early if you want a closer spot.
It was a great place, the owner was quick to respond to any questions/concerns. It was clean and in a good location. The property does rent the basement out too which was not in the original description but overall good
