About the host
Hosted by miljenka demel
Hi, I am your host, Miljenka. I was born and have lived all my life in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia. But all my holidays have been spent in Brela, where my father s family is from. I have loved the place ever since I was a child. Now I am retired and I want to help our guests enjoy the property and its beauty . My brother and I are the third generation of the property owners. Our goal is to develop it further for our children to inherit and our guests to enjoy.
Why they chose this property
Brela is a village under the Biokovo mountain in central Dalmatia, with long beaches of white pebbles, where you can be close to the sea and still in the shade of pine-tree forests that have remained untouched in spite of development needed for tourism. Preservation of green areas is what both our visitors and I value and like most about Brela.
What makes this property unique
My family property is the work of generations. My grandparents were farmers with a house on the main road, cultivating vineyards and olive groves. My parents added tourism to their activities by building a second house right above the beach and my generation expanded and developed what we have inherited further with contributions made by my brother (a self-taught artist and sailor) my daughter (architect), and my son (artist). One of my grandsons is studying animal science, so maybe the next generation will add farming to the business portfolio again.
