🔥 OUTDOORS
• Wood-burning fire pit with Muskoka chairs — please note: our cottage is in forest country near Algonquin, where wildfire risk is real and the authorities issue fire bans in dry conditions. We ask guests to avoid using the fire pit; firewood is not provided (please bring your own). If you do use it, any fire must be fully extinguished afterwards (cold to the touch) and all fire bans strictly obeyed.
• Screened Muskoka Room: the classic Muskoka experience — summer evenings without the mosquitoes, lake views through the screens, loons calling in the distance. Morning coffee here is non-negotiable.
• BBQ + picnic table for outdoor dining — grill as the sun drops behind the trees
• Hiking and biking trails right nearby — step out the door and into the forest
• Stargazing: zero light pollution, so the Milky Way puts on a show every clear night
❄️ WINTER
• Driveway professionally plowed all winter — come and go without worry
• Central heating throughout (new-build HVAC, not a drafty wood stove) — warm and even in every room
• Snow tires strongly recommended Nov–Apr — Muskoka roads can change fast, please drive to conditions
• Automatic backup generator — a winter power outage is a non-event, heat stays on
• After Hidden Valley (10 min) or Arrowhead's skate trail (20 min), come home to a hot bath and a fire in the fireplace

🌲 WILDLIFE & NATURE
We're in the forest — mosquitoes, flies and occasionally small wild animals (turkeys, field mice, foxes, deer) may appear. They get curious when the weather shifts.
🪟 Keep every window closed at all times — central heating & A/C, no need to open. Closed windows keep mice and bugs out.
🚪 Keep doors shut when not in use.
Easy habits: never leave food/coolers/garbage outside; clean the BBQ after use; supervise children; skip walks after dark. If close-to-nature isn't for you, we're probably not the right fit — most guests call the wildlife a highlight!
🦺 SAFETY FIRST
Natural forest property — uneven ground, stairs, fire pit, BBQ, wooded areas. Basement axe throwing: adults only, never throw near the target. By booking you accept inherent countryside risks and take responsibility for your safety and your group's — supervise children, wear sensible shoes. Host not liable for injuries, accidents or lost belongings.
💧 GOOD TO KNOW
Purified well water — please conserve, flush only toilet paper. Backup generator for outages. Not waterfront, no dock — lake views from the property, beach 5 min away.
⚡ POWER OUTAGES — NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT
Automatic standby generator kicks in within moments — lights, heat and fridge keep running. Don't run all big appliances at once. Message us if anything seems off!
