About this property

Roosevelt Suite w/ Jacuzzi & Fireplace

Experience the luxury of a bygone era in the Roosevelt Suite at Cotton Mansion. This newly remodeled suite honors The 26th President of The United States Theodore Roosevelt. Featuring a king-sized bed, jacuzzi tub, and shower, along with modern conveniences like a smartTV, mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, minisplit AC, and a gas fireplace, this suite blends historical charm with contemporary comfort. Located on the 3rd floor, access involves climbing the grand staircase followed by the servants' staircase, marked by a gold plaque, as there is no elevator in the mansion.

Theodore Roosevelt carved his way into history the books (and Mt. Rushmore) as one of the most consequential US presidents. Joseph Cotton, was honored to introduce Roosevelt to a crowd of twenty-six thousand people at the national convention in Teddy's 1904 presidential election campaign. T.R. created the national park system, broke-up monopolies, completed the Panama Canal, modernized the navy, and won a Nobel prize for peace. An extreme adventurer, Roosevelt spent a winter in a Northwoods logging camp, two years on the western frontier hunting, and would later contract malaria while exploring uncharted tributaries of the Amazon river in retirement. He also gave an 80 minute speech after being shot in the chest! Teddy, the namesake of the “teddy bear”, was ultimately a man of the people and among many other things enjoyed a long friendship with Joseph Cotton during the first half of the last century.

Venture out of your private space and head over to the main house to enjoy the shared living areas including the Living Room where you can relax in front of the massive Alabaster fireplace in comfortable furniture with a cup of coffee or a late afternoon glass of wine. This room boasts 15 ft. high beamed ceilings, original wall sconces and Russian Circadian White Oak Floors, a Grand Piano, and Chess Nook. Challenge your partner to a game! Grab a book and put your feet up in the library where you can let your imagination take you back in time to Joseph Cotton's Library and law office where the legal roots of Duluth's iron ore industry and US Steel were forged. This impressive room features a magnificent black marble fireplace, leather furniture, and black fumed woodwork. Books and artwork are for your enjoyment. There are so many beautiful spaces for you to enjoy you may just find yourselves staying in for your vacation.

Relive the Era!Adorned with period decor, it provides a unique way to reimagine life aboard a luxurious ocean liner. Located on the 3rd floor, access involves climbing the grand staircase followed by the servants' staircase, marked by a gold plaque, as there is no elevator in the mansion.
