Your host
I grew up in Athens and studied Architecture in Thessaloniki, then headed to the UK for a postgrad degree. A trip to Gibraltar ended up being a turning point. I loved it so much I decided to stay and work there while finishing my PhD thesis. After five amazing years living just across the border in Spain, I moved to Malta, where I still live and work. Even though I never ended up practicing Architecture, I’ve always loved the stories behind buildings and the cities they’re part of.
Why they chose this property
I absolutely love Thessaloniki’s Old Town! It’s full of charm, with its colorful old buildings and unique character. That’s what drew me to this property. I wanted to save it from falling further into disrepair, and honestly, I just love any excuse to visit and wander through the Old Town’s maze-like streets.
What makes this property unique
The flat was renovated with a lot of care and respect for its traditional features like the beautiful Art Deco door and the ceiling details. We wanted to preserve its original charm while giving it even more personality, so we teamed up with a local carpenter to custom-build all the furniture. Everything is one-of-a-kind and made to perfectly fit the flat’s unique character and quirky corners. And while it keeps that traditional look, it’s fully up to date, with flat screen smart TVs (netflix, disney+, amazon prime), Starlink internet, and universal plugs to handle any type of cable.
