Whacky, Weird & Wonderfully Enchanting - A One-of-a-Kind Country/Hippie/Gypsy Bed and Breakfast Outside Hermann, Missouri!
» How and why did we convert these grain bins into a comfortable bed and breakfast?
Hermann Grain Bins BNB is the marriage of my passions for cooking, planning parties, having friends and family over at my home, and my life on the family farm! So, to create my dream, I created the look of a farm for the exterior design by using two large 30-foot traditional (yet new) farm grains alongside a red and white barn, and from there - gave it a funky interior aesthetic with bright colors; it's a design twist that guests will love. This project and dream make my heart sing, bring a smile to my face and is something I can't wait to share with you!
» The Exterior and Interior
The exterior of the Hermann Grain Bins BNB may, for all practical purposes, look like a farm scene, but when you open the doors, you will enjoy beautiful colors and fun items that make this a truly unique and whimsical experience for my guests. Even the front door is a one of a kind design - a hand carved pirate's ship in solid wood. It's a massive door that let's you enter the world of enchantment and mystical creation at the Bins.
The bright colors, weird shapes, odd artwork and things that don't match all have a rhyme and rhythm of their own. I often find these items on my many treasure hunts (I am a huge fan of resale shopping!), and then use the resale gems to decorate the HEART of the BINS. It boasts a bohemian design with some hippie flare and a little bit eclectic. My passion and style can be described as quirky and weird, and I am so very proud of my design aesthetic beautifully featured inside the BINS.
» Amenities and Sleeping Arrangements
The Hermann Grain Bins Bed and Breakfast has two 2-story (brand new) grain bins that each sleep eight, so a total of 16 people can stay on-site with us. Wake up to fresh coffee/tea at the coffee bar, and then have a seat while you enjoy a great home-cooked breakfast fresh from my Mama Rita's recipes or ones that I have modified that will tantalize your taste buds. The two guest grain bins are connected to the big red barn in the middle. The barn, or as we lovingly refer to it - "The Roost" - is where we lounge and eat breakfast. Additionally, guests can use the guest full-service kitchen to prepare their own delicious foods and desserts. The Roost also has a library of books, magazines, and an array of games and puzzles for all ages.
» We have several cool, groovy outside patios and garden areas for guests to enjoy during their stay.
There's a fire pit grain bin covered patio with sliding doors and windows, so depending on Mother Nature, you can open or close them for your comfort level. We also preserved as many of our friends that we could (the 45-foot pine trees in our forest) and built a pine tree patio around "Piney," our beautiful pine tree that sits in the center of the patio surrounded by hundreds of white LED lights at night. Photo opportunities abound at our property - specifically, in front of our 100-foot retaining wall which has been hand-painted by a tattoo artist out of the Lebanon and Lake of the Ozarks areas to reflect animals of all kinds with large nostrils. Yes, large NOSTRILS. They are very cool and whacky! Need a little meditative time to yourself or a discussion with a loved one? Pull up one of our chairs and sit in our meditation garden, surrounded by floral wonder, fluttering butterflies and maybe even a humming bird or two. The garden area also displays two chandeliers and overhead strung lights for a nighttime oasis.
Enjoy and let your "weirdness" show while you enjoy and relax at The Bins.
Hugs and Peace Forever, Donna
Guests have full access to entire complex, including fire pit grain bin patio with sliding doors and windows; pine tree patio open to the stars and 45 ft pine trees, smore's wood burning fire pit for storytelling and laughter; memorial garden, fairy garden, and PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES in front of artist painted memorial wall with crazy, weird animals; and all amenities. Each guest grain bin is designed with open concept so no interior walls other than around the full bathroom/showers.
