About the host
Hosted by Melissa Holmes
Hi! I’m a mom to five grown kids, a math teacher by day, and a natural host at heart. I love creating warm, welcoming spaces where people can relax, connect, and feel at home. When I’m not teaching or hosting, you’ll usually find me traveling somewhere new, trying out a recipe in the kitchen, or learning something that sparks my curiosity.
I truly enjoy meeting people from all walks of life, and I believe everyone deserves a comfortable, inviting place to land—so all are welcome here. I’m also a proud cat lady, so if you’re an animal lover, we’ll get along just fine!
Whether you’re in town for work, adventure, or a quiet getaway, I hope my space gives you a sense of comfort, ease, and maybe even a little inspiration.

Why they chose this property
This home is incredibly well-located—close enough to everything you might need, yet peaceful enough to feel like a retreat. I love that guests can easily explore the area, then come back to a quiet, relaxing space to unwind.
What makes this property unique
Step into a home with a story. Originally built in 1920 and later thoughtfully reimagined by a Southwestern College professor with a passion for travel, this space reflects a unique blend of history, creativity, and Japanese-inspired design.
Throughout the home, you’ll find architectural details and charming quirks that make every room feel one-of-a-kind. It’s not a cookie-cutter stay—it’s a place full of character, where light pours into unexpected corners and each space invites curiosity and comfort.
One of the most special features is the serene, garden-like outdoor space. With lush greenery, a peaceful water feature, and a striking red bridge, it offers a tranquil retreat that feels worlds away—perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring.
As an older home, it carries the gentle imperfections of its age, but it is well cared for and deeply inviting. If you appreciate spaces with personality, history, and a sense of calm, this home offers a truly memorable stay.
