We had an amazing stay! Walking distance to the beach where the kids were able to play safely in the low tide! The house was clean and roomy for our families! We genuinely had the best time and Lance was so kind and responsive with anything we needed!

Lance was such a great host! He was responsive to our questions and graciously accommodating. He also shared great information about the area! .Super helpful! The house is close to Ogunquit, beaches and the outlets in Kittery. The house is adorable! Loved the layout . My only recommenation is.larger coffee mugs for sipping tea.... We gad a great time! Highly recommend this property!

Lance was a fabulous host! Very responsive and even brought us a pie and a bottle of wine during our stay. The house was in a great location close to the beach. We had 16 adults and seven kids and everybody fit great! The kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans and other essentials.

Our group had a wonderful time at the Varrell house once again. The house as usual was clean and ready for our arrival. We are a group of ten women and the property was large enough to accommodate us easily. The kitchen, parlors and large front porch gave us plenty of room to be together comfortably. The kitchen and dining room is set up for a large group to visit, cook, and serve our group comfortably. We will come again next year and we look forward to another wonderful stay.

Great house for a large group with so many wonderful spots for us all to hang out. Being able to walk to the beach and down to the wiggly bridge was amazing. Lance was uber helpful with recommendations too.

We had a great stay in York. The house was roomy, clean, comfortable, and able to accommodate a beach vacation for 20. Our host was easy to communicate with and responded to questions immediately. He went out of his way to make our trip easy and it seemed he sincerely want us to have a nice trip - it felt less transactional and more like a friend hosting us. We hope we can make another visit again soon.

Our family group of 23 (ages ranged from 1 to 77) thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lances' place. The location is as wonderful as described as we walked to the beach, bagels and ice cream in York Village and lobsters at the Lobster Cove in York Beach. We really didn't need our car the whole week. Special shout out to Lance who was very responsive when we had a few things break (these things happen). It really makes a difference when your host is the owner and lives nearby. Thanks for a great stay!

We truly could not have asked for a better place to stay! We booked this home for our pre-wedding trip with a large group, and it ended up being one of the best weekends of our lives. The house was absolutely perfect for us — beautiful, comfortable, spacious, and such a special place to spend the weekend together.Everything about our stay exceeded our expectations. Having a space where our whole group could be together made the weekend so memorable, and we made memories here that we will genuinely talk about forever. This lovely spacious home was perfect for our group of 25. Clean, bright, inviting, modern with hints of history. Comfortable, a home with substance. This was our second time renting from our host, Lance, first meeting him several years ago when we stayed at the Briars, a stone's throw from the Varrell House, our current place. We knew going in that our stay would be memorable. Lance is knowledgeable and helpful, quick to respond with our questions. The well appointed kitchen had any and all cookware and utensils needed for our feast plus plenty of counter space for food prep or just sitting around knoshing. The dining table accommodated pretty near all of us at the same time, quite a feat with our family. The sitting rooms were filled with laughter and stories about my loved one, who's life was the reason for this weekend celebration. The garden courtyard with it's fire pit and grill became another favorite place to hang over our four day stay. We'll return to this beautiful home again, a year maybe, two? A sincere thank you to Lance for a memorable visit. Gorgeous home, lovely town, reliable caretaker. I highly recommend the Varrell House.

Great property in an ideal location. Quick walk to the beach and to some fantastic restaurants (highly recommend the Lobster Rangoons at Stage Neck). Property had plenty of space for a large group (nice to have a dining table that can seat so many) and a living room where everyone can gather. Beds were comfortable and sitting on the porch was a favorite for many. Lance might be the best host I have experienced! He sent a great floor plan and his guide to local attractions prior to arrival. Very accommodating! We had a perfect trip.

Overall this was an excellent place to stay. Especially for the space. We had 14 people and each couple had their own room and their own bathrooms. It’s located in a great spot and the front porch was an awesome place to rest and enjoy the cool breezes. There was plenty of space to do a family dinner and good amount of parking.Easy walks to local sights and easy drives to Salem, Portland, Portsmouth NH. All members of our family rated this vacation in their top 5 and all liked the house and the porch.

My family (all 19 of us) ages 3-75 spent a week at Lance’s lovely home. There was more than enough room to spread out as well as come together to share a meal in the well appointed kitchen. With 10 bedrooms, 7 1/2 baths, 2 living areas as well as 2 staircases my 9 grandchildren spent the one rainy day playing hide and seek for hours. Did I mention location, location, location? We were able to walk to the nearby beach, a restaurant and the wiggly bridge all within minutes. Lance, our host couldn’t have been more helpful. Any questions I had , I’d receive a response within minutes. He even dropped off a bottle of wine when he heard it was our 50th wedding anniversary. A month before the start of our week I was sent a 12 page information packet with local sight seeing, restaurants, area beaches and numerous activity suggestions which came in handy for planning our time in Maine. We all had a great week and would return to the Varrell House in a heartbeat!

Our stay was absolutely incredible. We hosted a retreat for grieving mothers, with 15 moms plus a few staff members, and this home could not have been more perfect for our group. The house was incredibly spacious, with plenty of room for everyone to gather comfortably while also offering peaceful spaces to step away and reflect.Lance was hugely attentive throughout the entire stay and made everything so easy for us. The home was beautifully equipped, exceptionally clean, and had more than enough bedrooms and space for our large group.Many of the women especially loved sitting together on the front porch, and we also enjoyed time around the fire pit one evening. The location was amazing — just a short walk to a small beach where we watched the sunrise, and only a couple minutes from Long Sands Beach. We also loved getting to visit Nubble Lighthouse while we were there.This is truly a must-stay home — absolutely beautiful, peaceful, spacious, and perfect for gathering together. We left feeling incredibly grateful for our experience here.
