Betelgeuse Suite, named after the red supergiant star, is one of our four rooms available. This private room features a queen-sized pillow top mattress, 100% cotton, high thread count linens, flat screen TV with streaming channels, mini fridge, Kuerig, stone tiled bathroom with walk in shower, fresh towels, a private balcony with stunning views overlooking Strawberry Creek.
Access to lobby with fireplace, kitchen, bbq, deck and hot tub are potentially community areas, tho often not fully booked.
Root Stone Lodge is nestled above the serene Strawberry Creek, Just a short 3/4 mile walk into town, our lodge provides easy access to the creek trail. Allowing you to explore and take in the beauty of the area within easy walking distance to town!
Our back deck is the perfect place to relax, featuring a 6-person hot tub, a gas BBQ, and an outdoor dining area where you can enjoy meals surrounded by nature. Inside, you'll find a cozy sitting area with stunning views of the trees and creek, a fully equipped kitchen, and an indoor dining area. Unwind with a movie on the large flat-screen TV or gather around the indoor game table for some friendly competition.
The lodge showcases a unique spiral staircase crafted from pine and manzanita by the owner, adding a touch of rustic elegance. Our one-acre, unfenced property is surrounded by towering pine, fir, and ponderosa trees, creating a tranquil setting. Encounter local wildlife such as California grey squirrels, many birds including blue jays, wood packers, and hummingbirds, also on occasion, raccoons, deer, coyote and bobcats have been spotted!
Enjoy outdoor spaces such as trail to creek, sitting areas, mini amphitheater. Wedding and event space available!

Please turn off lights and bathroom fan. Turn off ac/heating by pressing mode on thermostat and scroll to ‘off’ position, please check that fan is in ‘auto’ position on thermostat.
Towels can be gathered on bathroom floor or in shower.
Trash can be left in room, if larger bins are needed they are located outside the lodge along the right side of building.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.

Hi, I’m Tara, proud host of the Root Stone Lodge. I grew up in San Diego and we have had a home in Idyllwild since the mid 80’s. This lodge has been in our family since 1991 with the addition being completed in 2018. We designed the lodge to be a comforting, peaceful respite for family and travelers alike. Each room has a private bathroom and we treat each guest like family, while also respecting privacy. We love sharing this incredible space with others to come and enjoy!
Why they chose this property
We are located in an incredible area of Idyllwild with towering trees, open landscape along Strawberry creek and an easy walking trail along the creek into town! We have an outdoor amphitheater that is ideal for small weddings and events. Idyllwild is a hub for live music and arts, fine dining and world class hiking, rock climbing and mountain biking.
