About this property
Train Wreck Inn - Full Site Rental
About this space
Centrally located in historic Grand Coteau, this retro train motel offers 4 separate and unique lodging spaces: a train car, caboose, ticket booth and an octagonal depot. Each spot has its own bold and unique style, plus a custom designed kitchen, full bath, record player, and vintage glassware.
The Train Wreck Inn's interiors are inspired by filmmaker Wes Anderson with a mid century / Midwestern twist. Guests can enjoy the courtyard and the wooden, covered stage in the center of the inn.
The space
Located in the center of the quaint town of Grand Coteau, the Train Wreck Inn is the perfect spot to make memories together while you step into a different world. The timeless decor and old time vibes makes time stop, allowing you to just enjoy!
Whether you are a few friends renting out the entire inn, or if you are hosting an event here - there is something special about this place and the way it creates the PERFECT place to kick back and make memories. The twinkling string lights under a view of the entire train depot is something to experience.
Mingle in the beautifully landscaped courtyard or hop in the hammock for some quiet reading time in the shade. We have multiple seating areas to enjoy meals and beverages outdoors. Take a stroll next door to the cafe for coffee or fantastic food, then visit a local antique shop. We love the slow roll of our town and can't wait to host your crew!
Guest access
The courtyard is open to all guests to enjoy.
Parking for one vehicle per VRBI is available on site on Chatrian St, with additional public street parking on the front side of the motel (on Martin Luther King Dr.)
Sleeping Info:
Throughout 4 units, there are 8 sleeping spots which can sleep 12 people comfortably.
2 x Queen Bed
2 x Full Bed
2 x Futon
2 x Air Mattress
Other things to note
Our spaces are very old, compact and efficient, and we love that about them! Choices for layout and items on board were made based upon this. A few quick notes:
- TVs are available upon request - just let us know when you book. (Having no TVs is part of our style choice, but we’re happy to accommodate and want you to be cozy!)
- Keep in mind the Train Wreck Inn is composed of spaces that are old and quirky. We take pride in their condition and cleanliness, but note that they are actual pieces of history / not brand new.
- Kitchens are custom built and fully stocked. We provide an electric kettle and French press + local coffee and tea. (Instructions to use French press and electric stove are included in your Check In Guide. There is also an electric coffee pot in the cabinet if you prefer.)
- Bringing kiddos? We are happy to provide an air bed, travel crib, highchair and/or some toys if needed!
