About this property
New! The Hideout - Cute, Peaceful, and Dog-Friendly Rustic Cabin on Au Sable River
Want to really get away from it all? You found the place! The Hideout is a cute and peaceful rustic cabin on the Au Sable River outside of Oscoda. It's a studio cabin with 2 beds, a full bathroom, and sleeps 4 adults. It is located in the woods with a trail in the backyard that leads to the river. The backyard comes with a picnic table, charcoal grill, and a fire pit. Dog-friendly as well! Perfect for hiking, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, cross-country skiing and exploring nature!
GUEST INTERACTION:
We have a local property manager that lives in the area and is available to answer any question and address any issues.
NEIGHBORHOOD:
The cabin is fairly isolated and there are few neighbors in the area. It is pretty deeply buried in a beautiful forest environment with lots of trees and the river nearby. It's truly a great place to get away to nature and the area is great for outdoor sports of all kinds, including hiking, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and cross-country skiing.
The nearby town of Oscoda is a cute little northern MIchigan town with a good supply of shops, bars, restaurants, and coffee shops. It is also on Lake Huron and has some lovely beaches for swimming and sun bathing.
GUEST ACCESS:
Guests have access to the entire property, except for the detached garage, which is locked and used for owner storage.
THE SPACE:
The cabin is pure Northern Michigan in style with a cute, woodsy, and rustic, but very comfortable, interior.
TRANSIT:
It is highly recommended that guests have their own vehicle.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
1) TELEVISION / WI-FI: There is no television at the property and there is no Wi-FI service provided.
2) BED: The photos show a trundle bed, but this is being replaced with a queen-size bed. (This is in addition to the sofa bed that is shown.)
3) PETS: Up to 3 dogs are permitted. Pets other than dogs are prohibited. Please include dogs on the reservation so that the pet is correctly paid.
4) PROPERTY NAME: The cabin has a colorful history that is reflected in the name of the property. The cabin was built in 1924 and in the 1930's some infamous bank robbers from Detroit actually used the cabin as a hideout from law enforcement.
5) HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING: The cabin has a propane furnace for heat and is available for rent year-round. The cabin does not have air conditioning.
