Pono Kai Resort is located on oceanfront/beachfront property. Our 1 Bedroom, third floor Ocean View condo has a fully equipped kitchen, 1 bedroom and 1 full bathroom. The bedroom has a King-sized bed. There is also a pull out queen sleeper sofa in the living room, fully stocked with linens, towels, kitchen utensils, and appliances.

The resort is located in the historic town of Kapaa, Kauai. You can catch the sunrise in the morning over the Pacific Ocean or even see whales during migrating season. The resort is within walking distance of restaurants, boutiques, shopping and grocery stores.

The bathroom is furnished with starter soap, shampoo and conditioner, along with a hair dryer. There is an iron and ironing board within the unit as well.

The Pono Kai Resort has many amenities on site. Tennis, basketball, exercise room, shuffle board, horse shoes, mini golf, cornhole, pickle ball, croquet court, board games, just to name a few. You can rent bicycles next door and we are located within 5 minutes from water activities such as; swimming, canoeing, kayaking, surfing, etc...

There are BBQ's located throughout the resort and coin laundry facilities located within each building except building K.

The Pono Kai is a great resort where you can truly relax and enjoy all that the Garden island of Kauai has to offer. Great location next to beach

Nice suite with all the amenities we needed for 11 day stay. Well kept, nice beds, pillows and would definitely stay again. Only complaint (not with owner) is price listed on VRBO was in Can $, price charged in US $ which amounted to quite a bit more on final bill.

Amazing stay. The only 2 items to point out are the rear bedroom was quite hot, the ac did not reach that room, which was not ideal. Also, the unit next door was being renovated. The workers were great and did their best. The shared hallway was a very dusty our entire stay.

Fantastic view

We have stayed at the Pono Kai for many years. It is our only go-to place. Old but very well maintained. Located in Old Town Kapaa. Walk to shops and restaurants. Right on the famous bicycle path. Can’t go wrong.

Responsive host. Resort contacted us in advance to ensure we had all we needed. Condo was clean and the view was great. Nice place to stay and would recommend. Only down side was the A/C was at one end of the condo and the bedroom was at the opposite end, so it did not cool properly. Even using ceiling and stand fans. We had to leave at 4:00am so it was very inconvenient to perform the required checkout tasks to start dishwasher, take out trash, collect all used towels and strip the bed sheets before leaving. All in all, it was a very nice condo and resort and I would stay there again.

Love how Hawaii should be the Garden island is the best.

Pono Kai is great. The central location in Kapaa works for us. .Our unit F105 still needs some updating but is very live able for the long term. N0t much sun on the lanai in Jan, Feb and most of March but the pool and beach are steps away.

Week in Kauia

Clean property near lots of great coffee in Kapa’a. Property was clean and unit recently renovated. Bedroom was warm the first night but we cranked the unit AC and had a fan blow into the bedroom and it was fine after that. No kitchen consumables if you plan to cook anything on your own (e.g, spices, oil, foil, etc).

This condo was just what we wanted: ground level view and short walk to the beach... the bike path was awesome the staff was very responsive although we only had one very minor repair it was fixed within an hour. Truly this condo exceeded our expectations... thanks for a great experience we would do it again.

Perfect property for enjoying sunrises, beaches, long walks, small shops, without driving at all. Of course, we did drive to the various beautiful hikes and adventures. But would not be necessary, perfect rental property for a baby to walk out on grass and enjoy the chickens and nature.so relaxing . Saw beautiful sunrises from our living room and porch.

Great view and quiet area

Everything was perfect except for the popcorn ceiling that kept flaking down into our food/drinks - we vacuumed often. It was very musty in the area we stayed but we’ve been here at this resort before and never had this problem. We did report the issue at the front desk and they said they would take care of it so hopefully all is good. This is one of our favorite places to stay since it is such a beautiful scenery and quiet area. The people are always very helpful and nice and accommodating here.

From the start of the booking less than 10 minutes from the e-mail this was booked. The place is so much more than we could of asked for. Very easy location and very close to the airport after a long flight. Walked in smelled very clean. Everything we could of wanted. Very comfortable bed and wonderful view. Pool and hot tub very nice and roomy. The grounds are very lush and the water lily garden at night is amazing. Very clean and organized complex. For the money you can't go wrong unless you don't book with Shawn. Will for sure be back and pass this on to friends and family. Thanks again for such a wonderful stay!!! Jeff and Cindy Maui!!!

The Pono Kai Resort is beautiful! We loved sitting on the balcony watching the sunrise every morning. Absolutely stunning! The apartment is stocked with everything you need. We cooked most nights and ate dinner on the balcony. We made use of the grills available on the property. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the air-conditioning. The air unit is in the front and the bedroom is at the back. We made use of the fan provided and pushed air down the hall to the bedroom, which worked okay if you kept drapes closed. It was a little to warm for sleeping some nights. Aside from that, we had a wonderful stay at Pono Kai. The location was fantastic for exploring all parts of Kauai.

We absolutely loved our stay! So convenient to everything.

Everything from booking to the front desk to housekeeping to the unit itself was perfect. We are looking forward to going back! We love walking the long paved beach path, watching the sunrise, walking to local eateries, shave ice, and shopping. Communication with the facility is top notch. Everyone was very positive and kind. (Well, except the pool towel people - they must've had lots stolen and staff has to guard them. We felt they thought we would be future thieves as well. We decided to buy and bring our own quick-dry towels, to not have to deal with the towel sign-out desk. If you are an OWNER (diff colored wrist band), you can take one of the pool towels anywhere you want. If you are RENTing a unit, they guard their towels like mama hens, and you must turn them in before leaving pool area. Lol. Whatever.) Highly recommend Pono Kai.
