HISTORY
The building as a whole was built around 1921 (not a certain date) as we were able to verify during the renovation work on the roof, finding the signature of a certain Loi on a brick with the date 1921 engraved on it. It was certainly built by the company Pertusola Ltd which managed the mining concession of the San Giovanni mine and many others in Sardinia. It had been built as the site of the mine's first offices; its initial use was not for residential purposes, for the reason that the first mine exploitation plants were located nearby. They placed the management of the mine there, so the Director's office was located there with his home (today Villa Stefani) just a stone's throw away. During the period of the twenty years of fascism, it was transformed into a home through the construction of two units, one on the ground floor and one on the first floor, for the reason that the extraction plants had moved to Sant'Antonio (now the entrance to the Santa Barbara cave) where all the office and management buildings were moved. The village became residential and completed with buildings for social use. The mine service chiefs usually stayed in the building.
