What a wonderful getaway! The cabin had everything we needed. It was such a peaceful space & we can’t wait to come back. The owners were so gracious and friendly. Beds were comfy, shower had great water pressure, the porch was such a sweet spot to hang out and we overall loved our stay!

The beds and pillows were the best thing about the cabin. They were wonderful! The cabin was clean but I don't understand why there's carpet in every single room even in the bathroom and kitchen. It was way too hot in the cabin in the evenings. The fans were way too small and could not keep up with the heat. The bedrooms were above 80 at night even with the fans on. I brought a wind tunnel fan with me and that saved us partly. The dock is in bad shape did not represent the photo as advertised. I did not know that there was going to be a fence between the cabin and the lake and private homes between the cabin and the lake. The lake was mossy and not swimmable. The fires around made it difficult and everywhere we wanted to go had very poor air quality so we were kind of stuck there and just surviving the heat. That's why we left on Tuesday although I paid through Friday. The heat was miserable and those cabins really need air conditioners at least in the windows during the summer heat.I would not recommend anyone stay there in the summer unless they bring their own AC unit. It might be okay for a hunting cabin in the off season.

Hi, my name is Jake.

I was born and raised in Spokane, Washington, and started co-hosting VRBOs as a side hustle while attending Gonzaga University — with my now-wife Sydney earning $5/hour as a housekeeper. What began as a small project has since grown into my full-time career in short-term rentals. I’m passionate about health and fitness, spending time with friends and family, and hope to travel more in the years ahead.

We can't wait to host you!

Why they chose this property

Deep Lake stands out because it offers something that’s getting harder and harder to find in eastern Washington: a sense of calm that feels real, not manufactured. The water is strikingly clear and clean, especially compared to many nearby lakes, and in the summer it warms just enough to invite long swims, floating afternoons, and unhurried time on the water. Surrounded by forested hills rather than dense development, the lake feels naturally sheltered, almost hidden, which helps preserve its quiet, low-key atmosphere.

What really makes Deep Lake special is how it resists becoming overrun. There’s no resort-strip energy, no constant buzz of jet skis or heavy boat traffic—just a slower rhythm that encourages paddling, fishing, reading on the dock, and evenings where the loudest sounds are birds and water lapping the shore. It’s a place where families, longtime cabin owners, and visitors all seem to instinctively match the tone of the lake itself: relaxed, respectful, and present.

What makes this property unique

Wilderness West Resort is unique because it’s not a big, cookie-cutter resort — it’s a quiet lakeside retreat that feels like a slice of wilderness with just the right mix of comfort and simplicity. Set on the shores of Deep Lake in the Colville National Forest, the resort brings together rustic charm, old-school forest scenery, and genuine time away from everyday noise in a setting that still feels like a hidden gem rather than a commercial getaway.

Instead of a front desk and flashy attractions, you find seven cozy, individually stocked cabins — each with its own deck and views of the water and mountains — and shared access to a welcoming lodge where friends and families naturally gather for games, meals, and evenings together. A restored dock, Adirondack chairs on the shore, and the ability to launch kayaks or swim from the property make the water itself a central part of the experience.
