New to VRBO, The Nest is a beautifully interior designed self-contained cottage with a private garden and wonderful uninterrupted views to the woodland beyond. Ideally situated off a quiet country lane in the Sussex village of Danehill, a High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and on the edge of the 6,500-acre Ashdown Forest, synonymous with Winnie the Pooh. The award-winning Coach & Horses gastro pub is a 2-3 mins walk. Four Poster and sofa-bed. Find luxury and comfort with a connection to nature.

The space
The Nest has achieved the coveted VisitEngland Gold Award for excellence. You will be assured of a welcoming and homely idyllic woodland retreat whether you are on a short break, business trip, romantic getaway or small family holiday.

Unwind in a peaceful, bright and calm open-plan setting with the benefit of a sumptuous four poster king size bed and deep pocket sprung and memory foam combination mattress and a comfy double sofa bed.

Enjoy high quality Egyptian cotton crisp white bed linen, goose down duvets and a selection of hypoallergenic pillows along with soft blankets.

The marble tiled bathroom has a double ended bath with P shaped shower enclosure, overhead rainwater shower, waterfall taps, handheld shower and a heated towel rail. Very good water pressure. Christy towels, waffle dressing gowns, shower gel, shampoo/conditioner, hand soap and hairdryer provided.

The dining/work space with extendable wooden table and upholstered chairs easily seats 4-6 guests with a cosy electric woodburning fireplace opening to a lovely, elegant sitting room area with comfy pull-out double sofa bed providing a 12 cm deep foam mattress and bamboo topper. The sofa bed is suitable for 2 guests. A cot is also available if requested at booking.

French windows maximise the expansive woodland views with velvet curtains and black-out blinds to ensure a good night’s sleep. Overhead LED lighting is on dimmer switches to help set the mood.

There is free full-fibre WiFi and a Smart 32”TV with over 150 Freesat channels, Netflix/Amazon Prime streaming option, DVD player, Bluetooth speaker, and a digital radio. A selection of board games, magazines, local area maps, children’s books, and a few cuddly toys are also available.

You will find good eaves storage space with lighting for luggage, suitcase stands, a clothes hanging rail, shoe rack and shelving. Iron and ironing board provided.

Downstairs is a separate well-equipped kitchen including a cooker with double oven, grill and ceramic hob, extractor fan, microwave oven, Nespresso coffee machine, kettle, cafetière, toaster, double sink, integrated fridge, freezer and a washer/dryer. There is a breakfast bar with seating for two next to the French windows overlooking the garden and woods.

The characterful weather-boarded Nest, with Winnie the Pooh weather-vane, is approached from the drive via an external wooden staircase to the leafy first-floor entrance making it feel like a treehouse and where you will find a useful rack for those muddy walking boots/wellies.

The Nest is nestled under the canopy of an old pear tree and Scots pine with your own small private garden below with lovely woodland views, furnished with dining table and chairs, a tranquil spot where you can relax and listen to the birds. There is space for bikes to be stored under the external stairs. Private secure parking is available on the drive. Do help yourselves to the pears!
Guest access
You will have unlimited access to The Nest and its private garden, entered through the gate to the right of the external staircase. The Nest is a separate building at the top of the owner’s drive so very private and quiet.

The Nest is accessed via an external staircase to the leafy first floor entrance and is not suitable for wheelchair access.

Your privacy will be respected and the owner's privacy should also be respected so their garden and house are not accessible, thank you.

Danehill village is on the edge of the ancient and glorious Ashdown Forest, 6,500 acres of wood and heathland with wonderful walking opportunities and home to Winnie the Pooh! There is so much to do in the area with National Trust properties/gardens such as Sheffield Park and Wakehurst Place, The Bluebell steam Railway, The Bluebell Vineyard, Trading Boundaries concert venue and the most charming and vibrant historical villages and towns to explore. The Sussex Coast and South Downs National Park are within easy reach as is Brighton. Its a great location to get around and go exploring with something to do for all the family!

We are in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and surrounded by nature, wildlife and an unspoilt landscape. We love that there are plentiful walks on public footpaths from The Nest and a highly regarded gastro pub The Coach and Horses just a 3 mins stroll away! What’s not to love 😊
