We loved this house. It was a short distance from the lake. The house was Very Clean. It is so close to many restaurants and stores. The people we passed by while walking were very friendly. The house had plenty of room for all of us. Overall an Excellent place to stay. Would highly recommend!!

The house was beautiful & in immaculate condition. Fully stocked with supplies. The back yard was peaceful and we had amazing bbq with bomb fires. The beds were comfortable and we slept amazing. The lake access was so close and we had the best time. This has to be the best rental we have stayed in. The neighborhood is quiet and we got the best rest & relaxation we needed. Thank you for the amazing stay.

This was an absolutely beautiful home kept immaculately. The decor is adorable and there's nothing that you could want for here. As if the home and location weren't enough, they have kayaks and bikes and tubes and fishing poles as well as a grill, fire pit and dining table out back. The lake was only a short walk down the street and perfect for kayaking. Additionally the host was immediately responsive - even to the silliest inquiries. We were very sad to leave. Thank you for everything!

Another great stay at this beautiful cozy cottage. Thankfully a summer stay this time! This is an awesome place, the host has thought of everything! Kitchen is roomy and stocked with all you will ever need. Kcup/Carafe coffee maker, toaster oven, microwave, and large toaster too! Cabinets have plenty of silverware, cups, plates, and other kitchen items. Bathroom well supplied with towels and amenities, like extra toothbrushes/toothpaste in case you forgot something. Cottage is extremely clean and tidy, once again. Bedrooms are great, comfy beds and plenty of pillows and blankets. Living room and dining room are roomy and comfortable. Full size washer/dryer also available in the kitchen. Game room is a plus! Full of games, books and comfy couches. Backyard is equipped with fire pit, table/chairs and BBQ. There's also a shed with bikes, kayaks, floats and more. The walk down to the lake is wonderful. Great views too! Most of all, the communication with the host, Laura is above and beyond. Care for comfort is well above most!! This is definitely the nicest place we've stayed in and the reason we came back again!! Price is reasonable and so worth the stay!! My hubby and I look forward to returning to this wonderful place!! Highly recommended!!

This place was the perfect spot for us. My husband and I came here for a little weekend getaway. Everything you could think you need was here for you. Everything labeled, tidy, and clean. We enjoyed the game room, fire pit, and close walk to the water! Would definitely stay here again

Great location for the price block from Houghton lake. House is exactly like the pictures. Inside was clean and had plenty towels, beach towels, and toilet paper/ tissues . A small package in case a toothbrush was forgotten was cute touch. Walmart is 4 min away for those items you forget as well. Bathroom shower is a little tight, ( im a bigger person) but worked good. Shed had everything needed for a tube float off the association dock, which is short ride/ walk up end of street and fire pit supplies. Outdoor kayaks and seating needed cleaned off good, which I understand if they're not used consistently, a hose is nearby. The little wheels to get kayaks down to lake were difficult to figure out so we stuck the boats side waze in my car and got them down. Place was great for what we needed and was cozy to come home from long lake days and watch a movie together . Central air worked nice Kitchen has everything you'd need ( utensils wise) if cooking. Fridge was stocked with bottle waters too. Houghton lake isnt as clear as Higgins, (we had not been here before) but trip was great nonetheless and this house was nice. Check out Fox den if eating out or the st Paul de vincent thrift store nearby.

Lake Home

We highly recommend this home! What a beautiful, clean, organized, comfortable place to stay! They truly thought of everything we needed and some. They were quick to respond to any questions we had. Walking distance from the lake. Comfortable beds. Our family had a wonderful time!

The Best!

This cottage was the best rental we’ve ever had - there were so many wonderful details covered and everything we needed was provided. It was extremely clean, beds were so comfortable, and communication was great! We loved spending time in the game room, around the campfire, and being so close to the lake. Having access to bikes and kayaks was really cool for our family and we created so many memories! Highly recommend this cottage!

What a wonderful stay!! Great location, great communication. This home has everything you need and more. Very very clean throughout. Comfortable beds, pillows, slept well. Bathroom full of amenities, very thoughtful array of items, in case you forgot. Plenty of towels, good water pressure. Heater worked well throughout the home, even in 5F degree temps! Comfy living and dining area. Kitchen well stocked with everything you'll need and more. Microwave, toaster oven and coffee counter full of items. Fridge was even stocked with water (which we replaced before leaving). Large Backyard and property well maintained, equipped with grill, bikes, kayaks and more. Close to main road, Walmart, restaurants and Lake Houghton. Most of all, communication from host was kind, thoughtful, just superb. We're looking forward to coming back in Summer! Highly recommended!

Perfect getaway!

Host was super! House was immaculate when we arrived. She apologized for not having it ready for us sooner because she had to press the pillow cases, above and beyond! It was very well equipped, dishes, pots & pans etc… Very conveniently located. We were there for the 4th of July and it was super hot out. The a/c kept it nice and cool for sleeping as well, both bedrooms had floor fans to help circulate the air. And in case of a rainy day there is a game room and 2 smart TV’s for you to stream your favorite movies or TV with the included WiFi. You’ll be pleasantly surprised by all the thoughtful little things they have thought of to make your stay more enjoyable. We enjoyed a peaceful fire one night at the fire pit in the cozy back yard. Best vacation rental experience ever. Hope to book it again!

Perfect cottage on Houghton Lake!

If you're looking for a delightful home on Houghton Lake, stop scrolling! Wish we could give it more than 5 stars. The furnishings and amenities are amazing, the home is immaculate, bedding and towels like those at a luxury resort (we asked the owners for a link to purchase them for our own home). There's nothing we would change about our stay. When we had questions, the owners answered immediately (including when we locked ourselves out - totally our fault!) We walked to the lake, less than a block away, every day, tried several of the local restaurants recommended in the Welcome Book, sat by the firepit, played a game in the gameroom, and rented a pontoon from Brian's Marina. Everything you'll need for a wonderful stay is right here!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

This was our first family getaway and the Hendershott House blew it out of the water! The house was so welcoming we knew we were on vacation as soon as we opened the door. It literally had everything you could think of and the only thing we needed to get was food! My kids loved hanging out in the gaming room with the garage opened! We walked every night to the end of the road and they went in the water to splash around. The first part is rocky so I would recommend water shoes (both kids cut up their feet the first time). It was wonderful to watch the sunset! <3 the drive to Higgins Lake South State Park was only 20 minutes and it's situated right in between many restaurants and shops! Be sure to check out their welcome book to see what all other guests left as recommendations to do! Thank you Melissa for opening your home to our family!
