About the host
Hosted by Crys
I’m Crys, and I love welcoming guests to our cozy corner of rural Ohio. Hosting is more than just providing a place to stay, it’s about sharing the history, charm, and community that make this area special. I take pride in keeping my space clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully decorated, so you can relax and feel right at home. Whether you’re here for a peaceful getaway, to explore Amish country, or to step back in time at the oldest general store in Ohio, I’m happy to help with local tips and personal touches that make your stay memorable.
Why they chose this property
Mesopotamia, Ohio is a charming township located in the northwestern corner of Trumbull County, with a population of 3,404 people as of the 2020 census. Named after the ancient region of Mesopotamia, it is the only township with this name in Ohio. The village’s historic district, known as “the Commons,” is particularly notable for its 28 buildings, with 21 constructed before the Civil War, earning it a place on the National Register of Historic Places. Mesopotamia is home to part of one of Ohio’s largest Amish settlements and features the End of the Commons General Store, established in 1840 and recognized as Ohio’s oldest continuously operating general store. This historic store offers visitors a glimpse into 19th-century rural life, selling everything from penny candy to handmade Amish fry pies, while the surrounding area provides an authentic experience of Amish culture with horse-drawn buggies and scenic countryside just 40 minutes east of Cleveland.
What makes this property unique
This picturesque village, rich in history and small-town hospitality, is a gateway to a wider world of discovery. From scenic countryside drives to immersive cultural experiences with our Amish neighbors, Mesopotamia offers more than just a visit, it offers a true escape. Visit small businesses’ owned by our locals and places nearby. Service will be personable and some historic. There will also be a list of Amish backroad adventures with produce stands, businesses, and greenhouses available in our guidebook when you arrive to our home.
