About the host
Hosted by Diana Nail
Diana is a retired NC teacher of 30 years and Donnie is retired from the NC Governor's Highway Safety Program. Donnie grew up in Winston-Salem and spent many summers on the New River in Ashe County! We have been married for 43 years and have 5 grand children! We are excited to share our new home in these beautiful mountains with you!
Why they chose this property
We love River Breeze for so many reasons! One of our favorite things is simply sitting outside and taking in the view. From the spacious front porch and the upper balcony, you can look across to the peaceful New River, enjoy your morning coffee, listen to the sounds of nature, or relax in the evening as the day winds down.
We’ve also created a special riverside area with a firepit and picnic table right along the riverbank. With direct river access, guests can enjoy kayaking, fishing, tubing, swimming, or simply spending a quiet afternoon by the water.
Another thing we love is the location. River Breeze feels peaceful and tucked away, yet it’s an easy drive to downtown West Jefferson, Boone, Banner Elk, wineries, restaurants, shopping, hiking, and other High Country attractions. In winter, several ski resorts are within about 25 minutes to an hour, making it a great home base for year-round mountain adventures.
For us, River Breeze is the perfect combination of riverfront relaxation, mountain beauty, and easy access to everything we love about the North Carolina High Country.
What makes this property unique
Our property sits up on a hill above the New River and has several trails along the river for walking dogs, picking wild flowers, or just strolling along the river road. It is peaceful and relaxing. We also have 2 kitchens to host larger families or friends that want to travel together. Our fenced in yard is a huge plus for dogs and children. Our firepit is fenced in so the whole family can enjoy roaming safely! We've also added river access, with a second firepit and picnic area on the river's edge! Great place to play in the river or relax beside it!
