As darkness falls, the sky transforms into a spectacular canvas of stars—some of the clearest night skies you'll find this close to civilization. Your dogs will love the freedom to roam and explore across the fully fenced 25-acre property, a rare luxury that most vacation rentals simply can't offer.

SEASONAL HIGHLIGHTS
Fall: Experience wine country at its most beautiful during harvest season. The changing leaves, crisp air, and bustling tasting rooms create an unforgettable autumn escape. This is peak season for wine enthusiasts.

Winter: Cozy up by the fireplace after a day on the slopes at Kirkwood. The property becomes a peaceful winter wonderland, perfect for sipping local wines while watching occasional snow dust the distant peaks. Warm interiors provide the perfect contrast to crisp mountain air.

Spring: Witness the hills explode with wildflowers and vibrant green grasses. The moderate temperatures make this ideal for hiking, wine tasting, and exploring nearby historic Gold Rush towns. Watch wildlife emerge as nature awakens around you.

Summer: Escape the valley heat to cool Sierra foothill breezes. Long summer evenings are perfect for outdoor dining on the deck, stargazing, and exploring the region's many outdoor attractions. Morning fog often creates mystical valley views.

IDEAL LOCATION
Positioned in the heart of Amador County's renowned Shenandoah Valley wine region, you're minutes from dozens of boutique wineries known for bold Zinfandels, elegant Barberas, and other exceptional varietals. The intimate, uncrowded tasting rooms here offer a refreshing alternative to Napa's commercialization—with winemakers often pouring the wines themselves.

Close to acclaimed wineries like Terre Rouge, Helwig, and Shenandoah Vineyards

You're not choosing between wine country or ski resorts—you can have both. Start your morning with coffee on the deck watching deer graze in the distance, spend your afternoon tasting wines or skiing fresh powder, and end your evening stargazing from the deck.

Unlike crowded Tahoe rentals or expensive Napa estates, this retreat offers exceptional value without sacrificing luxury or location. You'll enjoy the peace of true privacy, the beauty of unspoiled nature, and the convenience of being within easy reach of everything that makes this region special.

Experience luxury meets nature in this unforgettable wine country escape. Enjoy world-class wine tasting with the flexibility of mountain adventures—all without Tahoe prices or crowds.

Beautiful home that was extremely well appointed. The house alone was worth the trip, adding to that the views from the large glass doors was absolutely stunning.Very gracious host, made sure we were well taken care of but also left us alone unless we needed something to enjoy our peace and quiet.Definitely recommend this place for anyone looking to get away. The small towns nearby were fun to visit, looking to come back soon.

We had such a wonderful stay! I came with family to relax, and this place was the perfect setting. Friday night we sat outside under the clearest sky, stargazing and enjoying the peace and quiet while catching up with my mom visiting from Europe. On Saturday, we spent time out on the deck soaking up the sunshine, watching the hummingbirds and taking in the fantastic views. We also explored the property with a lovely hike. The home was comfortable, peaceful, and exactly what we were looking for—a great place to recharge and share quality time together. Mel was a fantastic host and communicator. Highly recommend!

We had an absolutely spectacular stay in Volcano, CA! We celebrated my dad’s 70th birthday with a weekend full of winery tastings, family, and friends — and this home made it all unforgettable!! Normally, photos can be deceiving, but we were so pleasantly surprised by how spacious this property was! The bedrooms were huge, the living area had the perfect open layout for gatherings, and everything was so well cared for and spotless.Being pet-friendly was the cherry on top — our pup Bella loved exploring the fenced-in property! The home is private, peaceful, and perfectly secluded for a true retreat. Every guest was amazed and couldn’t stop raving about how beautiful and comfortable the space was!!Mel was BEYOND a super host — incredibly responsive, kind, and thoughtful throughout our stay! We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and will definitely be booking again in the future!!!

I booked this trip as a special "Mystery Trip" for my parents 67th anniversary and my birthday. It did not disappoint. They were surprised and the house was even nicer than the listing pictures. The view from the back porch made you forget about the daily cares and just enjoy! The view of the trees was magnificent! The sunsets were shades of red, orange and pink. It was hard to leave. The hummingbirds clamored for food and monarchs flitted from flower to flower. The house has a very large kitchen with views from all the windows. The beds were comfortable and each has their own bathroom. It was very quiet and peaceful. One direction is the town of Volcano about 20 minutes away. Don't miss BAKED, the best place for homemade sourdough and a cute outdoor and indoor area to enjoy a latte and food. The other direction is Fiddletown and Plymouth with some fantastic wineries. My top favorites are Plein Air in Fiddletown- high elevation produces complex delicious wines. Borjorn in Plymouth is the only Mexican run winery with amazing Barbera, Primitivo and Zinfandel. La Mesa has some delicious white wines- sauvignon blanc, viognier and a surprising sparkling wine. So many things to enjoy not far from this fabulous rental. Mel was available to answer any and all questions. A wonderful host.
