About the host
Hosted by John DiLorenzo
I am the CEO of an employee benefits agency called Michigan Planners, headquartered in Washington, MI. As a youngster, my family always spent our annual summer vacation in the Traverse City area and I have loved it ever since. It was my dream to own a waterfront place of my own one day. That dream became a reality in July of 2000. And now...decades later, I still get excited every time I turn onto the Old Mission Peninsula! It is an incredibly unique and spectacular place!
Why they chose this property
I spent a year searching for my northern MI getaway and was just not finding what I imagined to be the perfect spot...until I pulled into this property and my heart instantly began to thump. In an instant, I knew this was, beyond a shadow of a doubt the spot for me! Consequently, this oasis has become my passion and my hobby. It is a continual work of art for me with improvements being made every year to the residences and grounds. I am VERY PROUD of what this property, known as Stonewall has become through its evolution under my ownership.
What makes this property unique
The Stonewall property is a 6 acre, waterfront estate located on Old Mission Harbor with the most spectacular sun and moon rises I have ever seen! There are several buildings on this site, each one incredibly unique and charming in its own way.
The main residence was built in 1865 and formerly an Inn. It has an unmistakably stately presence on the south end of the property. The cabin and carriage house are located on the north end of the property with many mature trees and a vineyard separating the residences. There is a "lighthouse" on site that was built as an entertainment venue and the grounds are impeccably landscaped and meticulously maintained. There is simply nothing else like Stonewall!
