Pauma Valley is home to this lodge. Palomar Mountain State Park and San Pasqual Battlefield State Historic Park reflect the area's natural beauty and area attractions include Palomar Observatory and San Diego Zoo Safari Park. California Center For The Arts and Grand Tradition Estate and Gardens are also worth visiting. Make sure you don't miss outdoor adventures like hiking and mountain climbing.
Escape to the serenity of Palomar Mountain in this spacious bell tent at Harrison Serenity Ranch, a 67-acre off-grid retreat surrounded by the Cleveland National Forest. Perched at 3,600 feet with sweeping views of the valley and, on clear days, the Pacific Ocean, this cozy yet comfortable tent offers the perfect balance of outdoor adventure and modern comfort.
Inside the tent, you’ll find a plush queen bed and a double fold-out couch, ideal for couples, friends, or families of up to four guests. Thoughtful touches like warm lighting, comfortable seating, and quality linens make your glamping stay both relaxing and memorable. Step outside and breathe in the mountain air, unwind beneath a canopy of oak trees, or stargaze at night when the skies truly come alive.
Guests have access to most of the ranch, including walking trails and a yoga deck with breath-taking views. Outdoor showers are available for longer stays of two or more nights, and BBQ areas may be reserved by request. The ranch is home to abundant wildlife, deer, hawks, woodpeckers, and owls are regular visitors — making every walk an adventure. History lovers will enjoy visiting the remains of Nate Harrison’s stone house, while nearby attractions like the world-famous Palomar Observatory add to the experience.
Harrison Serenity Ranch is fully off-grid, powered by solar energy and supplied by artesian well water first claimed in 1892. Cell phone charging stations are available on request, and propane tent heaters can be rented for chilly evenings. A Camp Host is available 24 hours a day to assist with anything you might need.
The journey to Harrison Serenity Ranch is part of the experience. After turning off CA-76, you’ll travel approximately 6 scenic miles to reach the property. The first mile is paved, followed by about 5 miles of gravel along Nate Harrison Grade Road. This is a rural mountain road that can be narrow, uneven, and bumpy in sections, and it requires slow, careful driving. While it is typically accessible in a standard passenger vehicle in good condition, we strongly recommend driving cautiously, ensuring you have enough fuel, and that your brakes are in good working order for the descent.
Along the way, you’ll be treated to sweeping views, and you’ll know you’ve arrived when you reach a sharp left switchback marked by a stone memorial to Nate Harrison on the right-hand side, along with the Harrison Serenity Ranch sign.
Whether you’re here to hike, meditate on the yoga deck, explore the history of Palomar Mountain, or simply relax under the stars, this bell tent retreat offers a peaceful, one-of-a-kind escape. Experience the magic of glamping at Harrison Serenity Ranch, where rustic charm meets serene mountain beauty.
