Stupendous space, inside and out. Kitchen equipped for a large group (we had 12) cooking and cleanup’crews together. Stove, sink dishwasher, top notch. Stargazing, superb. ‘Rustic Elegance’ was perfect for us!
The most Beautiful place, authentic, charming, cozy! This place has so much space and fun bedrooms! Our family was there for our son’s wedding and it was the perfect location for everything we needed! It was really hard to leave this place! Thank you for sharing your home with us we really felt welcomed and at HOME!! Love, the Miller Family
We just returned from a great stay. This is a beautiful property. The lake was great for swimming, the house is charming and acreage makes it feel secluded. Thank you!
This was our families 2nd year returning to the lodge. It’s the perfect space for a larger family with beautiful grounds, unique character and situated on a quaint lake. The lodge is picturesque and has lots of space inside and out. Would definitely recommend.
The house and surrounding grounds far exceeded our expectations! The layout of the house was perfect for our family. Plenty of space to cook, share meals, lounge in the great room or porch areas. Laurel and Gene were very accessible when we had questions.
Wonderfully kept up fisherman’s lodge. Great fishing for our modest boat. The property as a whole is so interesting and vast. If you are looking to unplug and stay in a more rustic but well kept accommodations—this is perfect for a family. It’s also close to Detroit Lakes and Perham for shopping and restaurants.
Wonderful home and great piece of lake front property. Very cool old cabin. Amazing sunsets over the lake to enjoy on the deck. Plenty of room for a big family! Nice sand beach and good size dock. Huge yard for all the kids to run around. I would definitely return and recommend this property.
This property provided a reunion of HS friends & their spouses the perfect opportunity to enjoy each others company & catch up on life. The grounds are spectacular and very private & the house was large enough to accommodate 5 couples (and children, if need be) quite comfortably. A stunning estate kept pristinely in 1947 fashion, was a delight to stay at such a beautifully maintained historic home.
Had a family reunion at this lovely home. 5 bedrooms meant everyone had a bed. The lovely interior spaces allowed our group to spread out and enjoy different focuses in differ areas. The weather didn’t allow much swimming but we enjoyed the little beach with pretty pebblesand the water clear and nice.
This property was secluded and very quiet. If the kids were not fishing from the dock, they were swimming in the lake. It was close enough to the boat launch to walk over and they swam there too. It was convenient to run into town to shop or go to the lake there. We would certainly stay there again.
Our family of six plus an infant stayed at the cabin over Labor Day Weekend. The place was fantastic and we couldn't have been happier. The location, property and interior were perfect and exactly what we were looking for. The land the property sits on is breathtaking and looks like a movie set.
We were able to visit with the caretaker of the property and the owner, and both were helpful. You won't be disappointed with this listing. We hope to return next summer.
Laurel was very prompt getting back to me with any questions we had. The lodge and grounds were beautiful. The upstairs lift rooms were a little hot this time of year but rest of house was great with fans and breezes. We were close to hiking, biking and of course swimming in the lake which was a big hit with grandkids. Loved it!
We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect spot to stay for a week at the lake! The lodge is beautiful and full of historic charm with all the modern conveniences you need. A well appointed kitchen, plenty of bathrooms (great water pressure!), comfortable bedrooms, and lots of space for gathering with family or finding a nook to sit and read. The lake is so clear!! And, it has a sandy bottom with no seaweed in the swimming area along with a nice sandy beach. Spacious grounds for hiking around complete the beauty of this property. Our host was very helpful, easy to communicate with, and answered all questions in a timely manner. We would highly recommend a stay here and hope to come back!!
Amazing place to get away from it all, without being far away
The place is very well maintained inside and out, and is very comfortable no matter your age. We spent our time outside or in the sunroom staring at the beautiful view. It really is a nice private place that’s good for large families. We had multiple generations and we didn’t feel like we were on top of each other all the time. Everything is as described, but the charm of the place can’t be captured. Amazing views and a relaxing environment that isn’t far at all from Detroit Lakes or Fargo. It was far better than we expected and easily the cleanest lake house we’ve ever rented.
The lodge was spacious and comfortable, and had everything we needed. The lake was clear and the shallow private swimming area was perfect for our little ones. The bedroom diagrams were a bit off (One lower level room with a queen only had 1 twin, not too, but the lofts had 3 twins in one and 4 in the other, so the total worked out for us) and it would have been nice to have a pole or something else attached to the dock to tie the boat to, but we made it work. The spacious grounds allowed us to be "alone in the wilderness", which was very relaxing! The kitchen amenities were perfect, and the decor was really fun. We'll be back!!
Our family of 11 had vacationed for a number of years at a family resort. The resort closed and we were left without a vacation site for this summer. As it turned out, we ended up with this absolutely fabulous rental on a beautiful property and lake. It was easy to communicate with the owner and she was very responsive. Our grandkids love to fish and had the best ever fishing (their words). There was plenty of bright, clean space in the house for all of us to gather together and if someone wanted time alone that space was available as well. We booked for 2023 before we left.
Everything couldn’t have gone smoother - very easy to communicate with owner snd found the place to be extremely clean and comfortable. We rented a boat from nearby shop snd all the fisherman caught so many fish. We also saw eagles, otters and loons. Caretaker Gene was so friendly and took my dad (we celebrated his 80th birthday on this trip) on a golf cart tour of the facility. The grounds are amazing and the house was really unique. I would highly recommend renting or bringing a boat if you have people in your group who like to fish and you can also fish off of the shore. Sitting out each morning was so peaceful snd the sunsets were beautiful. Can’t say enough nice things about our experience!
Our family of nine with three infants had a great stay at Laurel‘s property on Eagle Lake. It has the feel of a historic lodge that has been well cared for with lots of space for a family to spread out. Everything was very clean, and the kitchen was well stocked. It is very secluded on several acres of molded grounds interspersed with large Trees overlooking the lake. There is a very nice dock which we were able to keep our boat on. Only slight difficulty is that we were there probably the hottest and most humid week of the summer, and there is not air conditioning. Despite this, the place is well ventilated and had lots of fans and we were overall fairly comfortable.
The lake is great. We had decent luck fishing, and the caretaker Gene was kind enough to set up a nice place for us to clean our fish. Will definitely consider making this a regular family reunion spot.

Peaceful 1940's Lodge
I brought a group of 10 people to stay at The Aerie. The lodge is spacious and easily accommodated my group. The building was clean and well provisioned with modern kitchen appliances; after stopping at a grocery store nearby we were able to cook all our meals there. The owner is very responsive and easy to work with.
The lodge is set far back from the road and the grounds are spacious and well kept. It's a great space for yard games. The lake is very quiet, with limited boat traffic it made for spectacularly serene sunsets.
Couple of notes to be aware of: there is no fire pit and fires are not allowed on the property. There is no A/C in the building. We got lucky and stayed over a weekend where the humidity remained low, but we agreed that it would be difficult to sleep during the hottest weeks of summer.
