About this property
Vintage Gem in Cape Town City Centre
Welcome to Vintage Gem in Cape Town City Centre – Our Home, Your Home in Cape Town We’re Marie-Laure and Sipho, and this apartment is a space we’ve lovingly created to reflect what home means to us: comfort, warmth, and thoughtful design in a place full of life and history. Located in a beautifully restored 1930s Art Deco building, 407 Market House blends old-world charm with modern comfort. The 60m² apartment is light-filled and stylish, with hotel-quality bedding and towels, a fully equipped kitchen with high-end appliances, and a sleek bathroom. It’s perfect for both short city breaks and longer stays — a space that’s cozy, personal, and functional. We’ve chosen every detail with care, from the soft furnishings to the artwork on the walls. It’s a place to relax, cook, work, or just enjoy being in the heart of Cape Town. Just outside your door is Greenmarket Square — one of the city’s most vibrant and historic public spaces. There’s a daily open-air market, and on weekends and holidays you’ll often hear choirs singing or musicians performing. The area is full of cafés, bars, restaurants, and local culture — ideal if you enjoy being in the middle of it all. Great to walk and explore the city center by foot. Do note: Because of our central location, some daytime and early evening noise is part of the experience. But for us, that’s the sound of Cape Town living — authentic and full of energy. Your room has double glass windows so you can sleep peacefully. We hope you’ll feel at home here, just like we do. 407 Market House is more than a place to stay — it’s our vision of what a welcoming, lived-in, city home should be.
A bit about us - We are a couple living in Cape Town, working in tourism, wine, and the visual arts. I’m Sipho, originally from Johannesburg. I moved to Cape Town six years ago and run One Day Africa, a tour company offering meaningful experiences in both Cape Town and Joburg. If you’d like help planning your trip, I’m always happy to share ideas or help arrange something special. Marie-Laure is from France and has lived in Cape Town for over a decade. She’s a freelance photographer and created Marlow Photography, a photo agency a few years ago. She loves capturing moments for visitors, and she also runs a vintage clothing studio in the city, where local creativity meets timeless style. Together, we’ve created a space that truly feels like home — cozy, stylish, and filled with personal touches. We personally check in all our guests, share our favourite local spots, and provide a little booklet with tips and recommendations around the area. And during your stay, we’re always just a message away if you need anything. We love this city and its people, and we’re excited to share a piece of it with you through our apartment. Whether you're here to explore, work, or simply unwind, we hope 407 Market House offers you a welcoming base with a personal touch. We can’t wait to host you.
Stay in the heart of Cape Town The apartment is ideally located on historic Greenmarket Square, in the vibrant heart of Cape Town’s city centre– making it easy to explore the city without a car. Being in the city centre means some daytime and early evening noise, but for us, that’s the authentic rhythm of Cape Town. Top attractions are just a short walk away • The company's gardens • Bo Kaap neighbourhood • Long, Kloof and Bree Street And a drive away: • Table Mountain Cable Car – 15 minutes • Camps Bay Beach and Sea Point Promenade – 15 minutes • Constantia Wine Valley – 20 minutes
