Everything about our stay was amazing. The cabin is gorgeous and spacious and we made so many memories even though the rain ruined our hiking plans! Ryan and Tiffany were so easy and helpful to communicate with! We had all of the amenities needed and plenty of towels/blankets. The place is well kept and up to date.

Hi! Thank you so much for the wonderful review, you all were absolutely wonderful guests and we’d love to have you back anytime :)!
The house was cozy and clean with comfortable beds, and a well-equipped kitchen, which made it the perfect getaway. We were able to bring our dog, which made it even better! Communication with the host was great and super fast. Everything was exactly as described - we’d definitely stay again!
Hosts were very quick to respond. Description and photos were accurate. Things were clean and felt nice. Was a perfect set up for our family of 8! Beautiful setting!
My friends and I had such a nice time at the Private Ridgetop Retreat RRG. The house is secluded from other properties on the street which made it a perfect getaway for a group looking for a break from the city. It is also a reasonable distance from the RRG, which was one of the primary reasons we chose this property. The hot tub and fire pit areas outside were wonderful after long days of hiking and rock climbing. The inside of the house also had everything we needed to feel at home and have an enjoyable time while we were there. My only recommendations would be to drive a car you feel comfortable driving up a steep gravel driveway, and make sure you try out the log swing in the front yard before you go!

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication
Disliked: Location, listing accuracy
The cabin was great for the number of people. Very open, spacious and clean. Very well stocked. Great communication with the owner. The bathroom in the downstairs ‘master’ left much to be desired. The driveway was a huge problem and the only reason for the lower rankings. We were told that a 4 wheel drive vehicle is recommended but not required and that most people do have a problem with it. However, none of our 3 vehicles could make it up the steep graveled drive. The driveway had a lot of loose gravel and ruts and we just couldn’t make it after several attempts. Very scary moments when we got about 1/4 of the way up and started sliding back and sideways. There were 11 of us ranging from ages 3 to 69 and it was VERY difficult to walk the steep loose gravel every day as we had to park at the bottom of the hill and walk in the heat. Taking our supplies up and down was very challenging. The pic may not look it but it is quite steep and especially hard to keep your footing in the loose gravel when walking down. Probably ok if you have a 4 wheel drive but the listing and ALL communication should warn you that 4 wheel drive is definitely REQUIRED. We kept trips out to a minimum due to the effort required to get up and down the driveway. The gravel road in the far upper part of the pic is the actual driveway and can somewhat tell it’s straight up.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and for your kind words about the cabin's cleanliness, spaciousness, amenities, and our communication. We're so glad you enjoyed those aspects of your stay.
We understand the driveway presented challenges for your group and appreciate you sharing your experience. As noted in our listing and in the pre-arrival information, the driveway is steep and 4WD is recommended year-round and required during inclement weather. To help guests prepare, we also provide a video of the drive to the cabin so visitors can see the terrain in advance and determine whether it will be a good fit for their group and vehicles.
As is common in the Red River Gorge area, weather like rain can impact gravel roads and driveways, which is why 4WD is important during inclement weather. We work closely with our local team to maintain to regularly maintain the property and ensure the cabin is comfortable and enjoyable for guests.
We appreciate your feedback and are glad you enjoyed your time at the cabin overall. Thank you again for staying with us.
Our stay at the Ridgetop Retreat was great! Hot tub was perfect and I liked that it was protected off the back of the house, which made it seem more private. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars on cleanliness was we had ants around the dining room table. We notice it had old food in the cracks of the table from previous people. It's more of a design flaw with the table and not being able to clean it really well. The previous renters left a used sheet pan inside the grill with what we suspect was fish from the smell when we cleaned it.They have all of the basics but if you need specific baking dish ask beforehand or bring your own. The owners are very responsive. I asked about a 9 x 13 pan for baked ziti and I brought my own. Got a real kick out of the cookbook on the counter, my husband took a pic of it on the counter and sent it to his buddies. We used the horseshoe pits and had a campfire each night. Going to town for basic isn't super far away. Great location for anything to do with the red river gorge, we went on the boat cave tour and then rented side by side atv's, which was one of the best outdoor activity I've done in many years and ziplining on the last day where my husband and son had a blast. The driveway was very steep, so you just have to go for it with four wheel drive in gear. I highly recommend staying here and had a great experience.

Hi! Thank you so much for the wonderful review, you all were amazing guests and so glad you loved the cookbook haha! :) And also thank for letting us know about the dining room table as well- we will be sure to let our cleaners know to take special care of that spot. Please visit us again anytime, we would love to have you all again.
Everything was wonderful!!!! Only thing was there was only one trash bag for the entire stay, so we had to make many trips to the trash bin outside because of that. Overall very pleased with our stay!Tough getting up the hill but worth it for the view.
