Lovely, beautiful and great fun - our daughter and brand new son-in-law loved their honeymoon here
A wonderful and special cottage by the ocean. A great location for exploring locally, as well as a base for around the island. Very well maintained.

Amazing location!
Amazing location with the waves crashing right in front! You can't beat that lanai. Also right next to a beach!
Close to town and within walking distance of downtown shops.
The house was sufficiently clean and the ceiling fans provided adequate cooling.
The shower was a bit grimy and could have used an inspection before our arrival.
Would visit again!
Place was perfect for my husband and I…owner was great to work with and provided everything we needed plus more….if you have a small family this may work for you but two couples this place might not work for you…only one bathroom which is downstairs and no dishwasher but we still loved the place. Are going back for the next several years if we can….

Perfect Location
We enjoyed being so close to town (walked everywhere!). The house is pretty dated and could use some "reconditioning." Getting the car in and out was a little challenging, but since we didn't need the car much, that was doable. Bed was comfy and the fans worked well to keep the upstairs cool enough to sleep. Overall, LOVE Kailua and had a wonderful time!

Loved this little gem!
The previous reviews were extremely helpful and we found the property to be just as expected. The ocean view is truly incredible! Waking up to the roaring waves and natural sunlight was amazing! The house is within walking distance to everything, including a local farmer's market. We ended up renting scooters so we could explore areas outside of the immediate Kona area. The house has plenty of towels, comfortable bedding and snorkeling gear. We found a chill spot to snorkel just south at Kahualu'u Beach Park. Hanging out on the lanai and grassy area watching local surfers was our favorite part of our stay!
The cottage was nicely decorated and had everything we needed upon arrival. Carla was at the property when we arrived working on an adjacent property so we had the opportunity to meet in person.
The lanai was so nice that we spent a lot of time watching the dolphins, fish, turtles and sunset. My husband actually slept on it as he wanted to hear the ocean while sleeping. The ocean sound was also heard in the bedrooms. The walk to Kona was only a few minutes and we did this each day during our stay, but as soon as we arrived back at the cottage, we were outside. The wall that separated the cottage and ocean was a great place to find some sea shells! There is a television available as well as WIFI. We did not use the tv as the lanai provided our entertainment.
We would definitely book the cottage again!
great location on the water, many hours on the deck, meals, martini's watching sunsets. have stayed multiple times, always a great home at a great price.
the perfect house. our favorite part was the covered porch and great view. you can sit out and enjoy breezes without getting fried by the sun. cool and comfortable. The house is beautifully decorated and well kept up. Lovely finishes. The upstairs can get toasty at night as others have said - but thats the price of paradise. Carla is a joy to work with - very kind and accommodating and responsive. Thank you for the use of your home
My wife and I stayed for 31 nights and we couldn’t have been happier. Such an incredible location, right on the water and only a 5 minute walk from the main strip. Such a cozy ocean front cottage with everything you could need, including strong WIFI! This was very important to us since we work from home, so being able to have Zoom calls from the Lanai was fantastic! Carla was excellent to deal with anytime we needed anything, always being available. We would definitely recommend staying here and will most certainly come back again ourselves.
The good - Carla (property manager) was extremely helpful and very responsive. We were able to check in early which helped us get things in the fridge from one rental to the next. Good luck getting any closer to the ocean. It's 20' (at best) from the back porch. Whales, dolphins, and surfers right out your back door.
To note: No AC - which isn't too bad, with all the fans running at night. The ocean is LOUD at night with all windows open. TV is tiny (but we weren't there to watch TV). The upstairs (bedroom areas) aren't separate rooms - but are separated by a half-wall of sorts.
The best thing about cottage is its location right on the beach. It makes it a great deal considering the price. It is pretty hot in the summer, and the fans aren't really a substitute for AC. However, for the price I could entertain relatives that were in town and we had a great time.
Wonderfully charming house. Great views and location. We didn’t have 0 problems at house.
We would for sure come back to this wonderful little house.
Works great as a base. Everything was tip-top inside.
Good value for price. Best recommendations!

Great location. Would give 5 stars if there was AC...
The location is wonderful. Walking distance to town and amenities but still feels private. The view of the ocean from the lanai is amazing. The biggest downfall was the 85 and 90 degree days and no AC- it was miserably hot inside. There are fans which when running drown out sounds of the ocean, which was kind of a bummer too. We would totally stay there again if there was AC.
This is our second time staying here. We love the location! The house is perfect for a family of four. Perfect walking distance to many restaurants and shops. Popular running trail right out the front door. The lanai is perfect for watching sunsets and surfers! Private, off-road, gated parking was nice. A few beach accessories available for use! Carla answered me back very quickly when I texted her. It does get a little hot in the loft in the evenings, but there are many fans in the house that help to cool it down.
The house is located in a great spot only steps away from all of the restaurants, shops, and a great little beach. Very easy commute to the entire island from Kona as well. Great place, great vacation.
Quaint, quiet little home. Well outfitted in the kitchen, wonderful views, great feel.
It was the perfect spot for rest and relaxation, and as a weigh point for all our excursions on the island. We traveled every major hiway on the island and many, many others, always ending up back here to rest.
Carla was very attentive to the small issues that came up, and everything went smoothly.
Even on our rest day, doing “nothing” all day, was a great day. We watched a cruise ship anchor in the bay, snorkelers, divers, and surfers.

Beautiful views and prime location
We absolute loved this cottage! It was great to have the beach next door and every night we would enjoy cocktails on the porch watching local surfers and the sunset. It was nice to be walking distance to restaurants and coffee shops. At first we were nervous about no AC but it was not a problem at all, in fact I liked it more without it because the fans and cross breeze kept the place cool and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this cottage and stay there again if I'm lucky enough to return to Kona.

So lovely!
We loved our Kona home away from home! Stayed for 8 days - 2 adults and 2 kids. Nothing beats falling asleep to the sound of the ocean outside. We spent loads of time appreciating life in the porch. No complaints. Mahalo

About the host
Hosted by Carla Gomes
Owners were born and raised in Kona and currently live on the island. We can quickly service your needs right away should there be any requests. This property has been in the family for many years. We are very happy to share this vacationing experience with you at beach front. "We have had many, many enjoyable and memorable family birthdays and special gatherings right here. This is where we all come to".
Why they chose this property
This cottage is in a unique location. Most of our guests are repeaters. We have a couple returning for their 10th year. Our location is popular during the Annual Ironman Triathlon Event in October as you will be right in with all the action. Watch the swim from your lanai and later the biking event right at roadside. Then walk to town for the final event. Our guests have said "You don't need a rental car to stay here". There is a county public bus system that takes you around the island which stop is a few yards away from the cottage. A free shuttle also provides transportation up and down Alii Drive. Not necessary to have a rental car. The cottage is located within walking distance to Kailua-Kona town where you will find restaurants, shopping, churches, a public library, open air and farmer's market, the famous historical Hulihe'e Palace, and much more.
What makes this property unique
Location, location, location. A short stroll to the historic Kailua-Kona Village. Shopping, restaurants, churches, the open air farmers market. But best of all, enjoy your relaxing evenings watching the breathtaking sunsets from your private lanai and sipping your favorite beverage. There is a small county sandy beach right next door. However, not ideal swimming conditions. Tidepooling is ideal in front of the cottage when low tide.
