About this property
Spacious farmhouse over 3 floors. Long tree lined drive. Pool, garden orchard.
The farmhouse dates back to 1760 when it was originally a cider farm. The house has attractive and spacious accommodation arranged over three floors, with exposed beams, intricate carving and stonework and attractive stone walls.
The living room has a huge open fireplace and cool stone floors, furnishings are large and comfortable. Leading off this room is a double bedroom with an ensuite shower room, convenient for a person with limited mobility.
A beamed archway takes you through to the dining room which has a large table (seats 12). From here double doors lead through to the kitchen which is well fitted and contains a range with gas hobs and electric double ovens, a microwave and dishwasher.
On the first floor the master bedroom suite is a large light room with two big windows overlooking the gardens. It has a large double bed (180cm) There are double doors leading through to the ensuite bathroom which has double French doors opening onto a private terrace, with views across the gardens to the hills beyond.
There are two further bedrooms on this floor, one with a double bed and a single, the other has twin beds. These rooms have an adjacent shared bathroom. An oak staircase leads up to the second floor where there is a large bedroom with ensuite bathroom and another double with lovely views. Please note bathroom access on this floor is via the ensuite room. . All the rooms have views across the gardens.
Garden and Pool
There are lovely walks in the garden through woodland and down to the river.
The Nordic style pool (above ground) has wide wooden steps to access it. It is 6m x 3m and about 1.20m deep. It is unheated but not deep, so it warms up quite well in the summer. It is private to guests of the farmhouse.
Our region in full of History and holds delights for all ages and interests. The Normandy Beaches of the historical D Day landings are an easy drive from here. Bayeux with its magnificent hand worked tapestry, majestic Cathedral and many restaurants, is less than an hour away. Monet's House and Gardens at Giverney , though a little further away, are a memorable way to spend a day. Honfleur , with its charming fishing port, surrounded by first class seafood restaurants, is very close. A delicious lunch followed by a stroll around the art galleries, or a sight of artists painting in the streets is all part of the pleasure.
For those who are happy just to relax, the pace of life in Normandy is slow, long leisurely lunches under a shady tree or in a little restaurant are part of the relaxation of the day. The cheeses of the region are legendary and are named after many of our local towns Livarot, Pont L'Eveque. The village of Camembert is just 2 miles away. There are many local facilities include Golf, Horse Riding, Local Markets, Cheese and Cider Making, white water Canoeing.
Vimoutiers has many shops and restaurants, several boulangeries and a lovely chocolate shop!
Delicious cheeses and cider are produced locally. Lots of culture nearby! Normandy landing beaches, Bayeux tapestry, Caen Art museum, many chateaux and gardens to visit
