About this property

"The Old House 2" - Villa with Private Rooftop Pool, Old Town

Located just off the Old Town's main square this unique and newly renovated traditional house has a fabulous rooftop terrace with private swimming pool and amazing panoramic views towards the sea over the Old Town and the mountains. The house also has a large balcony which overlooks a pretty courtyard.

The house has been lovingly restored by the owners and retains many of its unusual features. The house has a simple elegance but features all the modern facilities you would require for a comfortable stay.

The space

The living area is open plan with a fully equipped kitchen and access to the courtyard. Downstairs there is the first of 4 bedrooms (a double bedroom) and a small bathroom with shower.

Upstairs there are 3 more bedrooms and a bathroom. Both of the double bedrooms have access directly onto a large balcony which overlooks the courtyard and Old Town. The small fourth bedroom has bunk beds and a glass brick wall adjoining another bedroom. This can be good for families. Every room is equipped with air-conditioning to ensure a comfortable stay.

The house is situated in a quiet part of the old town with lots of lovely restaurants and shops a two minute walk away through the picturesque narrow streets. This property is only suitable only for guests over 25 years of age. It is perfect for families.

Why they chose this property

Malia is one of the oldest places in the world. 5000 years ago it was one of the only towns in Europe. It has a stunning 7km beach and sits at the foot of beautiful mountains. Old Malia has survived the tourist over-development and the old town actually pre-dates medieval cities in Europe. The culture survives in the people as much as in the ruins. To say that Malia is timeless may be an exaggeration - but given it's history it is as close to timeless as you can get.

What makes this property unique

n the old town this house has always been known as "The Old House". We do not know exactly how old it is because it pre-dates the municipality records. It stands at the high point in the centre of the old town with the town spread out around it. Uniquely situated in its own grounds it retains both character and gracious living, high ceilings, thick walls and centuries of character. This house has a long story and we feel lucky to be part of it.
