About the host
Hosted by Mark Slayton
Hi, we’re Mark and Charlene, your hosts! We have long made our life in the Pacific Northwest. Forks is our home base for every adventure on the Olympic Peninsula. We love hiking the rainforests of Olympic National Park, exploring tide pools along Ruby beach and stargazing on clear nights when the Milky Way lights up the sky. Hosting this cabin lets us share the wild, peaceful beauty of Forks with travelers who want to unplug and recharge. We strive to make sure your stay feels like a true escape—whether you need trail tips, the best spot to launch your boat at the nearby DNR ramp, or just extra coffee for the porch. Welcome to our little slice of rainforest paradise!
Why they chose this property
We chose this neighborhood because it feels like the heart of the Olympic Peninsula—close enough to everything, yet tucked away in its own peaceful pocket. Just minutes from Forks, you’re less than a hour to the Hoh Rainforest and 20 - 30 minutes to the beaches of La Push, Lake Crescent and Sol Duc Hot Springs. No matter where your adventure takes you, you’re never more than an hour from the next wonder.
What we love most is stepping outside and hearing the river. The Sol Duc flows right along the edge of the property, with eagles, otters, and the occasional elk wandering through. The public boat ramp next door means you can launch a boat and be drifting through misty pristine wilderness in minutes. Our neighbors are the kind who wave from their porches and drop off fresh apple cider in the fall. It’s quiet, friendly, and wild all at once—exactly why we fell in love with this spot, and exactly what we want to share with you.

What makes this property unique
What sets our cabin apart is that it’s built from the land itself and designed to pull the outside in. Inside, the fireplace, crafted from local river stones, provides a cozy reprieve from a day out fishing or hiking.
The eating area is a wall of oversized windows and skylights which frame the yard like a living painting. On those classic Forks rainy days, slip into the greenhouse: it’s warm and wrapped around a crackling wood burning stove. This isn’t just a cabin—it’s a love letter to the Olympic Peninsula, built to make every moment feel like a postcard.
