About this property
Charming, Private Cottage near I-5 and Golf Course.
****************
APRIL 2025: Temporary notice: Douglas County experienced historic rains and flooding in March. As a result, we are having to renew the landscaping in front of the cottage. There was no damage inside the cottage. We expect to be done by summer's end. If you would like to see photos before booking, please message us. Thank you!
****************
You'll be surrounded by peace and beauty in your private cottage in Myrtle Creek.
Conveniently located under 2 miles from EXIT 108 on I-5 at the very end of a cul-de-sac in a family friendly neighborhood.
600-square feet and lots of natural light and tall ceilings. Beautiful hardwood floors throughout that were reclaimed from an Oregon high school gymnasium.
We've spared nothing for your comfort. Please read our honest reviews! We know you'll love it here - and you might not want to leave!
PRIVACY: See photos in listing to see how private the cottage is. However, you may see Ken or Anya working in the garden on the hill above the cottage, or relaxing on the deck.
NATURE at your doorstep: On our property we have deer, (in spring and summer we have deer that usually bed down with fawns under the cedars just outside your living room window). The tree frogs will serenade you in the evening during certain times of the year and the stars are bright.
Birds are plentiful, from hummingbirds to Canadian geese. We have hawks, falcons, all number of small birds and lots of wild turkeys that roam around - watch out for their little "gifts."
AMENITIES: Free Internet access both WiFi and Cabled Ethernet.
KITCHENETTE: The refrigerator apartment-sized, not mini. Other small appliances include a microwave, induction cook top with all pots, pans and utensils. Beneath the white hutch you'll find other appliances such as a blender, a rice cooker, a crock pot, and a toaster oven. We have a one-cup coffee maker (keurig-style) that also brews hot water for tea as well as a 4-cup regular drip coffee maker.
DECOR: The cottage was built with a country / cottage / farmhouse open style. It has dutch doors, reclaimed gymnasium hardwood floors throughout, and open, vaulted ceilings. There is plenty of natural light and ceiling fans in each space. There are cool stories behind everything inside.
ABOUT US: 2018 was our first year hosting travelers. We hope to make your stay comfortable and memorable! We love people and are friendly. However, we will respect your privacy at all times.
ABOUT THE TOWN: Myrtle Creek has a motto: "Where nature is your neighbor." The town is nestled in one of Douglas County's more beautiful valleys right on the South Umpqua riverbank. It is also is known as "The gateway to the 100 valleys of the Umpqua." We're a small, friendly community with small town appeal, but also modern with the times.
PET FRIENDLY: We are pet friendly, however, please check the box when booking to let us know you will be bringing your pet.
You may use the entire cottage and its front yard. You'll park in front of the main house, then walk down the long, easy stairway to the cottage.
There is a gravel pathway that leads down through a field where you can access the golf course. If you walk through the field and go right, then left on Neal, you'll come to the Neal Lane covered bridge that spans South Myrtle Creek.
If you need anything, use your app to message us or we're just a phone call or a knock away! We will not be intruding on your stay. If you need anything, please let us know.
We are located in Myrtle Creek, Oregon. NOT in Myrtle Point (Yes, one guest actually made it all the way to Myrtle Point before realizing her mistake).
We are situated at the end of a cul-de-sac on a short street. Neighbors are nice! Since you'll be staying on the south side of the property, the only interaction you'd have with the neighbors would be when you come and go, as the parking is in front of the main house.
If you are golfing for your stay, no vehicle necessary! The golf course is next-door. For everything else, a car is needed. There are plenty of walking options if you're into nature walks, but to get to restaurants and venues, you will need a vehicle. We'll provide a local map if you need one :)
Absolutely no smoking on the property - thank you!

Why they chose this property
We were looking to slow our pace of life down. Friends of ours lived here, and we came to visit.
We instantly loved it as we exitied the freeway and saw the Myrtle Creek Bridge spanning the South Umpqua River.
It is definitely small town living, however the nearest "big" town is just 15-20 minutes north - Roseburg. Why, it took us that long to go shopping in San Diego, with all of the stop lights and traffic! A leisurely mountain drive is much preferred.
We love it here and regret NOTHING!

What makes this property unique
We know you'll love it here. Artists and writers have come for the quiet. Families have come to visit their local relatives. We've had traveling nurses and lovely new residents coming to stay while their new home is in escrow.
We have some beautiful reviews you're welcome to look through. People love being able to relax in the quiet, peek out the window and see the deer, or take a short walk to one of Oregon's covered bridges, the Neal Lane Bridge.
Of course, if you like to golf, you can walk next door and enjoy Myrtle Creek's 18-hole world-class golf course. The course is stunning, and climbs up into the hills, has ponds, and spans the creek. Crossing Days Creek Cutoff Rd, when you get to the top of the course, wait until you see the view of the valley!
Pets are welcome here on approval, and there's plenty of places to walk your dog.
For chemically sensitive individuals, we are happy to tell you that we only use fragrance-free laundry detergent.
There are so many unique benefits to staying here. In fact, you might not ever want to leave!
