About this property
McIntosh Cabin - Off the Grid Getaway!
Summary:
Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. This home is located on a beautiful farm surrounded by streams, mountains, and country roads. From the newly added back porch you can see horses grazing in the fields and a variety of wildlife in their natural habitat. A true Appalachian experience. Offering two bedrooms, two full baths, fully stocked kitchen and comfortable living room with TV and great wifi. Only a few minutes drive into town and pets are welcome too!
The Space:
Guests will enter through the kitchen and then to the living room which is between the two bedrooms. The master bedroom has its own full bath and king size bed, small sofa and desk. Another great feature of the master bedroom are the beautiful double doors that open up to the large back patio. The guest bedroom has a king bed and also a twin bed. The living room is very comfortable and has a nice size TV. The kitchen is small but very functional. The best part about the property is the amazing outdoor space. Complete solitude and gorgeous mountain views.
Guest Access:
Guests will have access to all areas of the home and they are welcome to walk the fields surrounding the house.
The Neighborhood:
This home is located on a secluded road with very few houses. GPS will give you two options and we recommend that come in off of Hwy 80. GPS says it is the longer route but it is not. The reason it says that is because you travel 2.1 miles on a dirt road. Don't let that scare you because it is a good road and is a beautiful scenic drive along the river. The other route is all blacktop but a longer drive.
Getting Around:
Once you reach the property you will see a concrete parking space across the one lane road from the house. Please do not park in front of the locked gate. The owners need access to the other private cabins nearby.
Other Things to Note:
This home is part of the historic Morton Farm. There is a log home next door which dates back to the 1800's. There are two other small private cabins and a barn on the property. We ask that guests do not visit or disturb the other properties. You are welcome to walk the property but please do not park or ride ATVs anywhere in the gated fields. There are also horses in the field and we ask that you do not feed or pet them. They may bite!
Also, in the winter months if there is snow both routes into this property can be hazardous or unpassable.
Interaction with Guests:
I rarely meet guests in person, but I follow their lead.
