Long weekend
Good location, owner was very attentive to our one water problem but unfortunately could not get someone to fix during our stay. Pretty decor and plenty of space for the 4 of us. Love the starting toilet paper, paper towels, dish detergent; always helpful.

Thank you for your feedback—we truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. We sincerely apologize that the faucets were not fully resolved during your stay and regret any inconvenience this caused. We work diligently to ensure every guest is comfortable and strive to maintain a well-kept, welcoming space. We appreciate you choosing to stay with us.
The property was beautiful. Immediately on check-in my adulr daughter said, "I would stay here again." Check-in/check-out procedures were easily completed. The only suggestion I have to offer is an ottoman would be nice to have in the unit. An alternative would be a recliner for those who need to keep their feet up.

Nice Place
I read some of the earlier reviews about the condo smelling musty and the mattress being uncomfortable. I do not know if those two issues had been corrected or if I am just less aware then the earlier guests, but I did not notice either of those two conditions. The condo was quite comfortable and perfect for me. I also liked how it was centrally located with walking paths to golf courses, tennis courts and the marina. I would definitely stay there again.
My husband and I stayed at this condo for two nights. The place was spotless and also well appointed and tastefully decorated. The building itself was very quiet and we had nice cool evenings on the back patio. We had one question for the property manager and owner and they were both extremely responsive and got our questions answered very quickly. We even had time to take a dip in the pool, which was a bonus. Would definitely come back when we’re in Southport again. Thank you!
As a former Vrbo property manager of 3+ years with all 5 star reviews, I’d like to give this place a thorough review for everyone’s benefit.
Pros-
-St James Plantation is a gorgeous place. Getting in and out of this gated community was a breeze. My kids enjoyed the playground, and the drive to the beach club wasn’t bad at all. The beach club itself was a nice amenity- easy to find, easy to park, and super clean restrooms!
-The condo itself was easy to find. Quiet, the person renting the lockout didn’t disturb us at all. The full kitchen and dining space was great for cooking for my family every day. Having a washer and dryer was a huge plus.
-The hosts were very helpful and answered my questions in a timely fashion. Chuck made sure we knew how to get into the condo and checked on us via text. Very helpful!
Cons-
-The management company, Evolve, took weeks to respond to my questions, citing their “busy season” as the reason. I would have preferred to skip this sad excuse and communicate directly with the owner instead.
-The kitchen lacked some basics- no sugar provided with the coffee items. No dishwasher detergent provided, nor was it ever said I needed to bring my own. Very few dishes, none of which were kid friendly. The pots and pans were either gigantic or tiny. And the hot pad was about 4 square inches, almost too small to use without getting burnt. Obviously I’m being hyper critical! But these are things that could have been thought of.
-The beds. The mattress on the pullout side was so old and worn out, you could feel every spring inside it. The king mattress was only a little better but super bouncy, uneven, and extremely uncomfortable.
-The dining chairs were all broken in some manner, making it very challenging to use them.
All that being said- it really was a great little condo and a great value. I’d probably rent it again and just bring my own floor mattresses to get some sleep!
Unit was on 3rd floor. Wish I was told this on the description as I have bad knees and was hard to walk up 3 flights. Otherwise all was great.

Pretty worn out property
This unit is in bad need of an update. The manager was very friendly and the unit was supplied well with some amenities…coffee pods (4), shampoo and conditioner……appliances worked well…plenty of ice. But one of the most important items, the bed, was really pretty bad. The mattress badly needs to be replaced as well as the pillows. There were lots of them but they all were very badly sweat stained and uncomfortable. Invest in 4 or 5 My Pillows and some nice real cotton sheets along with a good mattress and it would have been very much better. There is a lock-out connected and we could hear every word of several phone calls made by the resident.
The condo was perfect for our small family. We enjoyed the nearby beaches and restaurants, and also cooked a few great meals in the condo! Will definitely stay again.

3rd floor unit no elevator. Nice but needs adeep cleaning
Chuck was very nice but the condo needs professional cleaning and updating very musty odor carpets and furniture need to be cleaned and deodorized. Pillows and linens need to be replaced. Full set of plates should be added. Also listing fails to mention 3rd floor unit with no elevator.
The owner's father helped us check in. It was very easy. Our stay was quite comfortable and everything in the condo worked well. We would definitely recommend it to others wanting to stay in the Oak Island area.
The condo is in a private community with tennis courts, pools, and a very nice park that has a boardwalk leading to the intracoastal waterway. Another benefit of staying there was access to the beach club which has private clean bathrooms and a nice pool right along the beach. The condo was very well stocked-we had everything we needed in the kitchen to cook daily meals. The beach chairs and pool noodles were a great addition. We enjoyed the balcony and the dining table (where we played games nightly). The only thing I would improve is the mattress on the pullout sofa bed. The owner said he has a mattress topper but we didn't receive that, so I'm guessing this is a one off situation. But the sofa mattress was very uncomfortable. Other then that, everything was great! I would love to come and stay again.
Great Condo with plenty of living space. Lots of area activities.
Up to date appliances and owners were very thoughtful to include beach chairs and swimming toys. I bike would be a great addition while you are staying here. No easy way to the beaches on Oak island from St James Plantation in general so you have to plan car packing and parking at the beach which is limited. Took lots of long walks on the trails around the property. All in all a wonderful experience
Arrived late on Friday, check in was super easy. Spacious unit, ten times more inviting than a hotel room. Great appliances, very neat and organized kitchen. Netflix on the TV was a huge bonus for my 8 year old son. Short drive to the beach, easy access to grocery stores, gas stations, and restaurants. Would definitely go again!
Quiet, clean, comfortable, great location in St. James. We loved staying in the condo for the week! There are two flights of stairs broken into 4 sections to get up to the third floor. Felt good to work off some calories from all the good food in the area!
Perfect place to stay for a small family beach adventure
3rd floor 1 bedroom with a full pull out couch. Clean, comfortable, well equipped, and quiet. St James plantation is huge, there is a restaurant on the property. Everything else is within 10 minutes or so. Beach club is on oak island and perfectly convenient, gated parking, pool, showers and rinsing facilities, and a ramp right to the awesome, huge beach.

Disappointed
Description of unit should have mentioned that it was located on the THIRD FLOOR, accessible only by ascending SIX flights of stairs. If a prospective renter were mobility impaired or had health issues, this would have posed a major problem. For me and my husband, we had to carry up six large luggage pieces. Secondly, upon arrival, I found a rather large dead (thankfully) cockroach in the bathroom. Had there been other sightings, we would have checked out immediately. Suggestions: some bath mats for the floor would be a good idea, hand towels for bathroom; local area maps; directions to supermarket/stores/mall/restaurants. Also, second hand smoke seeping into condo. Very noisy neighbors.

Clean, comfortable and convenient
Very comfortable and livable. Has everything you need including glasses pots silverware, coffee, tea etc. Bed comfortable, good TVs and walking distance to Tommy Thompson's. Only negative is it's on the third floor but no big deal. And the HVAC is a little on the noisy side. Owner was very nice and greets you on arrival and gives you all the details you need.
