Other than a very strong cigarette smell throughout the home, it was a beautiful stay. The host was super responsive and the place was spacious and had everything we needed for the weekend. Parking instructions should be included with the check-in instructions, but overall a good stay.
We were traveling as a party of 6 for a youth hockey tournament at RPI. The host did not provide good directions to get to the property, good thing we arrived in the daylight. Parking was out back and you have to turn 3 houses prior to the place to get to parking. A few hours after arriving, we noted sewage back up into the shower and bathroom floor! I immediately texted the host. Her response was ‘they are probably using water upstairs, wait a few minutes and it should go down!’ With that response, this was clearly something that has happened before. Several minutes later, after I reiterated to her that we could not use the bathroom, she suggested ‘if you need to use a bathroom, you can go across the street to McDonald’s, they have one!’ Doing this would require walking across an 4 lane highway! I can’t make this up. I responded that was unacceptable and we found a hotel and left. Once at the hotel I contacted VRBO, sent pictures and videos and asked for a refund. VRBO has been terrible to deal with. The host would not respond to any calls or emails from VRBO, and because she was not responding, they could not offer me a refund. Ridiculous! It took 11 days of contacting VRBO daily to finally get a refund. DO NOT STAY WITH THIS HOST!!
