About this property
Steps from Waikiki Beach, the Red Ginger
Location is everything!
The Red Ginger is a compact studio apartment with its own private balcony providing a city view of Waikiki. With historic Waikiki Beach is just outside the hotel lobby, the Red Ginger makes a perfect home base for exploring Honolulu and the rest of Oahu.
An expansive roof deck on top of the hotel, just one floor above the studio, provides a bird's eye view of Diamond Head. There are lounge chairs for sunbathing and tables for alfresco dining. No one else in Waikiki has a better view of the sun setting into the Pacific. Kapiolani Park is just across the street and offers the Honolulu Zoo, Waikiki Aquarium, the Royal Hawaiian Bandstand, tennis courts, soccer fields, archery ranges, weekend art shows and the city's Sunset on the Beach free concerts and movies - all this in its 500 green acres.
One of the main reasons for coming to Hawaii is of course the sun and sand. Surfing, stand up board paddling, outrigger canoeing, swimming and simply lounging on the beach are all just a few steps from the Red Ginger.
Hawaii is the crossroads of the Pacific and its culinary offerings reflect that abundantly, so while the Red Ginger Suite has a kitchen and microwave, you are a short walk away from countless cafes and restaurants catering to every taste and price range. Similarly, if you can get yourself out of the water and away from the beach there is a lot of shopping to be done in Waikiki, and the many other shopping venues just a short drive away.
The Red Ginger is located at the end of Waikiki. Kapahulu Avenue provides easy access to the freeway, and makes getting in and out of the area very easy because you avoid all the traffic in the heart of Waikiki. This is perfect for when you decide to explore the rest that Oahu has to offer.

There is no beach view from the lalnai, rooftop balcony has the views, excellent location at the end of Waikiki beach, lots of good food choices, Honolulu Zoo across the street, nice park there also, beach a block away. Apartment is smal but didn't spend much time there except to sleep.
The host provided great details and answered questions quickly. The room was clean and it was easy to get to the beach, food and fun without a vehicle. Thanks Kevin!!!
Kevin was very thorough in sharing information. The apartment is small but well situated. We found it just right for our purposes.Amenities are all around. Waikiki Beach is a block away. All in all a very good choice for a single or couple to stay at Waikiki.
Clean room with essentials for making simple meals. Amazing view from the Sun deck! Kevin was a very responsive host and accommodating when we needed an additional night. The bed was super comfortable and while the space is small as described it fit our needs perfectly! We would definitely stay here again.

Clean, great location, the air condititioner was loud and a update to a newer model is needed. Small room for people who want a 3- 14 day stay. Very nice laundry area for washing and drying.
Great location, beautiful views from the rooftop. Would stay here again. We were able to walk to so many places, we never needed a car. We discovered Teddy’s Bigger Burgers downstairs and ate there 4 times!
Small but clean room. Walk to beach, perfect location and host provided beach towels and coffee maker. Hula’s restaurant on 2nd floor was fantastic also. Loved being able to pay for parking spot very easy!
This is a fantastic location and beautiful beachfront. The room (902) was small, but very clean and comfortable and quiet. The kitchen had a fairly large refrigerator and freezer and a two burner stovetop as well as a fullsuze microwave, coffeemaker, utensils, plates and cups and glasses. We slept comfortably each evening after long days enjoying the beautiful beach and otherisland outings. Beautiful breathtaking view of Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head. Lots of food andshopping places nearby.

Had a lovely week at red ginger nice overlooking the zoo and the beautiful sunsets bed was fantastic which is a plus nice hot shower walk 100 meters and you're on the beach and your right at the end of the craziness of the strip top spot
The property is in an ideal location and the rooftop view is stellar! My host was the best I've ever had, highly communicative, helpful and kind! It is small, but I knew that as it was communicated clearly in the listing and the size was not a problem at all. I highly recommend staying at the Red Ginger!
The Red Ginger is in the best location in Waikiki. If you are looking at the Red Ginger book it. The condo is small but it has everything you need, it is handy to an ABC store and a short walk to a supermarket. The owner was easy to deal with in answering my questions and requests. The site manager is lovely and also easy to deal with. I was fortunate enough to meet her when I arrived at the room.
I grew up in Kapahulu and this was the perfect place for my partner and I to stay. It was walking distance to my family home and a great location for Waikiki restaurants and bars. Best of both worlds! Will definitely rent to stay again!
I can’t say enough! Easy access to great food, shopping and the beautiful beach!! And Kevin is the best host!!

About the host
Hosted by Kevin Lum
Born and raised in Honolulu, I currently live on the Mainland, but spend a lot of time in Hawaii. I have worked in the travel industry for over 40 years and have explored numerous countries around the world. I can relate to what travelers are looking for in a vacation rental because I'm looking for the same things - cleanliness, location and value.
Why they chose this property
I grew up in Honolulu and spent a lot of time playing at the beach and on the sea wall that is less than 30 steps from the condo. Kapiolani Park was a place for family gatherings, concerts at the Shell, and of course the Zoo. Waikiki was a lot slower and quieter when I was a kid, but even today I think visitors will still find it to be a special place. If you walk down to the Diamond Head end of Kalakaua Avenue - it's still like it was in the old days.
What makes this property unique
LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION!
While being at the "end" of Waikiki might sound like you are away from all the action, that just isn't the case. Everything Waikiki has to offer is just a short walk away, but you don't have to be in the middle of the hustle and traffic. Being on the end of Waikiki makes getting in and out of the area, if you are driving, much easier than visitors staying in the middle of the high-rises. Saving the best for last, being on the end of Waikiki means there is nothing else between you and Diamond Head except the big green expanse of Kapiolani Park. Head up to the roof deck and see for yourself! In the morning it's an amazing place to have coffee, watch the sun peek over the Koolau Mountains and light up Diamond Head, listen to the monkeys in the Zoo, and see the elephants out for a stroll. Only in Hawaii!
