About the host
Hosted by Mckenzie Mckean
Morten and Mckenzie Bruhn, a husband-and-wife team and parents to three active young children, purchased The Woodsman Lodge in spring 2025. After a full renovation, the lodge reopened in July 2025, and since then, they have loved hosting guests—both newcomers and those who have cherished the lodge for many years—creating a welcoming home away from home for everyone.
Why they chose this property
We love the location and neighborhood for its incredible Ozark Mountain views and the abundance of nature—deer, squirrels, and birds all around in the trees and woods. The sunsets are stunning, and the lodge is just a 5-minute drive to downtown, with walkability to the nearby brewery for live music and weekend entertainment. It’s also close to local attractions like Thorncrown Chapel and Lake Leatherwood, offering fishing, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, and paddleboarding. Plus, being on the trolley route means you can easily explore town without driving.
What makes this property unique
What makes The Woodsman Lodge unique is the feeling of being fully immersed in nature, perched on a mountainside with breathtaking Ozark views, while still being just minutes from town. The lodge has also been completely renovated and redesigned, offering modern, comfortable facilities that make every stay extra special.
