Hyttå, Cozy Nordic Retreat, Hot Tub, Clubhouse, Wifi

Hyttå is a private, Scandinavian-inspired mountain retreat set on 6 wooded acres, offering complete privacy just 6 minutes from downtown Windham. The home is a beautifully restored 1840s timber-framed barn, thoughtfully updated with modern Nordic design while preserving its historic character. The property already has several 5-star ratings on other travel sites, and now we`re just launching it on VRBO as well!

The main house includes 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a fully equipped kitchen, making it well suited for ski weekends, holidays, and relaxed group getaways. The layout is comfortable and practical, allowing guests to spend time together while still having space to unwind.

A unique highlight of the property is the private clubhouse, known as The Northern Lights Bar, located just steps from the main house and exclusively for guest use. Inspired by Norwegian après-ski culture, the space features a full-size bar, shuffleboard, karaoke, comfortable lounge seating, and a projector with motorized screen for movie nights. A custom Northern Lights–inspired light installation adds a distinctive atmosphere. Because the clubhouse is separate from the main house, guests can enjoy it without disturbing others.

Outside, guests can relax in the brand-new Caldera 6-person hot tub, with views of the trees and vast backyard. The property is accessed by a long, winding driveway (no 4WD required) and offers ample parking.

Hyttå is ideally located for exploring the Catskills. Windham Mountain is 9 minutes away, Hunter Mountain is 20 minutes, and nearby towns including Catskill, Hudson, Woodstock, and Kingston are all within an hour’s drive, making it easy to balance outdoor activities with shopping, dining, and sightseeing.

The home is comfortable for guests of all ages, and we can provide a travel crib, high chair, and unobtrusive baby gates upon request. Well-behaved dogs are welcome with prior approval (fees apply).

Hyttå is a place we genuinely love and use ourselves. We ask that guests, two-legged and four-legged alike, treat the home with the same respect. We take pride in hosting with care and aim to provide a comfortable, well-maintained home where guests can relax, reconnect, and enjoy the mountains year-round.

We are Even from Norway and Marna from the USA. We live busy lives in New York city, but call both Windham and Geilo (Norway) our getaways where we are able to fully disconnect and enjoy life (while still being connected to high-speed internet, because this is 2026 after all :)

Why they chose this property

We chose the cabin in Windham, NY because it reminds us of winters (and summers) in Norway. There is of course some great skiing nearby at Windham (5-10 min), in Hunter (20 min) and Bell Ayre (45 min). There are also lots of other winter activities like sledding, snow shoeing, and lots of restaurants, bars, and breweries. But in addition to all this, there are also LOTS of summer activities! Hiking, canooing, farm visits, mountain biking (world cup host 2010-2012), and so so much more. This is very similar to the sister property in Geilo, in the mountains of Norway.

What makes this property unique

It's so private! 6 acres and set back from the road so you don't see any neighbors. That said, it's still only 4-5 minutes from town. You also have a private "club house" on site, which we affectionally call the Northern Lights Bar. It comes complete with games, shuffleboard, karaoke, a Northern lights mural, a bar, and a projector w/motorized screen. We love hanging out here with our friends and family!
