About the host
Hosted by Laura Klavitter
Originally from LeClaire, Iowa, I have been living in Dubuque for over 10 years! This was my first home in Dubuque and I lived on the property for over 5 years before moving in with my now husband.
This home is near and dear to my heart. I loved living in my neighborhood and getting involved in the Washington Neighborhood Garden, which I managed during my 5+ years living there. I also enjoyed meeting and building relationships with my neighbors, collaborating on beautification projects and neighborhood clean-ups.
I love being able to share my home with travelers who desire a home away from home and want to experience a neighborhood vibe and live the life of a Dubuque downtown resident.
I am now the proud owner of local Plant Shop, Planted., located in downtown Dubuque. I always love meeting my guests, so please stop by and say hello!

Why they chose this property
The Washington Neighborhood will always hold a special place in my heart. It is filled with friendly neighbors and boasts to be one of the most population dense, diverse neighborhood in Dubuque. I love the down to earth qualities and also the proximity to cafes, restaurants, breweries, shopping, local art, walking paths, and both a dog-friendly park and Community Garden across the street!
What makes this property unique
Our home is at the end of a row house unit that was built in the early 1900s, over 150 years old!
On the inside, my house feels magical. Hardwood floors, exposed brick walls, open-layout floor plan and a small brick-paved back patio where a morning cup of coffee can be sipped.
The exposed brick and open layout are unique to my property as these updates happened after a fire. This property was a part of a City Housing Initiative and was remodeled after the fire, meaning no other unit in our stretch looks like ours!
