A gathering place for families and groups at a farm with a mill near Paderborn

The holiday home, with a living area of more than 340 m², was built in 1863 as a farmstead featuring a residential wing, a barn, and stables. It is the ideal place to host family gatherings, cook and dine together with friends, and serve as a base for exploring Paderborn and the Paderborn region. The holiday home, the former stables, and the Vodes Mill surround a courtyard of approximately 1,000 m². Adjacent to the courtyard is the Vodes Mill, built in 1487, which still uses the stream’s water power to generate electricity today. An old waterwheel serves as a reminder of its days as a grinding mill. From the holiday home, a 150-meter walk across the property leads to a karst spring that feeds the stream to the mill. Legends and stories surround this spring—known as the Storchenkolk—due to its abundant flow and turquoise colour. We strive to utilise the area’s natural resources for the house. Hot water is generated by an air-to-water heat pump, and we produce electricity using our own turbines whenever the water flow is sufficient. The gas heating system is supplemented by a water-fed wood-burning stove. An additional tiled stove can be used during the transitional seasons.
A family room with a bathroom/toilet and sleeping accommodation for up to 4 people is equipped to accommodate guests with disabilities.
We do not rent to groups organising bachelor or hen nights or to all-male groups. Weddings, family celebrations, and corporate events are available upon request. The mill can also be rented for events for up to approximately 60 people.
