Communication with the host was unacceptable. The wifi was not working, which presented a major problem-- my mother was visiting from abroad, and relying on wifi, and I needed to teach an online class during my stay. On the first day, the host was responsive, and suggested another network that periodically had a few bars, but kept cutting in and out. When I told him the next day that it wasn't working consistently, he said he was waiting for help from the provider. We were there 5 days-- after repeated requests, it became clear help was never coming. The host would send me platitudes ("I am just as frustrated as you are") but didn't proactively DO anything, or check in to see if things were working. I had to buy an esim for my mother, and arrange an alternate place to work from-- in a city where I do not live, and that I don't know well. He could have suggested coworking spaces or libraries, or even booked me a room at one. But after I checked out, he offered me a paltry 10% refund, for something that created a major source of stress on what should have been a fun vacation (then, 15%).The unit itself was mostly fine: good location, definitely could have been cleaner (some dirt on my socks from walking on the floor, some mold on the bathroom ceiling), but ok. The only lamp in the living room didn't work, and there is weirdly only one tiny bathroom mirror in an apartment designed for multiple people. Dishes, but no rack to dry them. But, the major issue was lack of care.
