In the surrounding small villages, such as Groß Zicker and Gager, you can buy fresh-caught Baltic Sea fish from local fishermen pretty much every morning. On Mönchgut itself, there are well-developed biking and hiking trails. This means you can leave your car behind during your stay on the island of Rügen. If the return trip is too far, you’re also welcome to take the bus or the “Rasender Roland” train home. It runs daily from the Baltic resort of Göhren through the Baltic resorts of Baabe, Sellin, and Binz all the way to Putbus and back again.
