Bathrooms & kitchen needs updating. Water leak in unit resulted in our inability to use one bath. Access to unit for repair caused loss of privacy. Request to owner for refund of some of our cost was ignored.
We love the Fifth Ave Beach Club! Perfect for walking to the beach, shops and restaurants. The unit has been mostly updated and decorated nicely, though the bathrooms are a bit dated—showers are very slow to warm up, slow to drain and removal of humidity is limited.Ana was quick to respond to any questions. Would recommend to anyone!
My family has stayed at this condo for our spring break two years in a row. The location just can’t be beat, with both the beach and shopping/restaurants within a 5 minute walk. Ana is the most helpful and responsive host that we have worked with in our many years of renting on Vrbo. Excellent value for Old Naples in high season.
We had a small mix up upon arrival. Ana was on it asap and was very accommodating. She even dropped off a bottle of wine with a nice card afterward. Location can't be beat with close proximity to beach, restaurants and shops. We will definitely stay there again.

You were wonderful, kind, understanding guests and are welcome back to The Cottage on 5th anytime Rodney!!! So glad you enjoyed yourselves.
Our stay was with my two daughters 18 and 20 and it was a perfect location and well equipped with all the beach chairs, towels and umbrellas. The kitchen is also stocked with everything needed to cook in. Large TV’s and every channel you can imagine. A/C kept us cool and ceiling fans worked great.
The location and communication from Ana was excellent!! Great beach vacation and easy walk to the beach!!
Great location, very clean but a bit tired property, lots to do in Naples
Enjoyed walk to town, library & beach location. Parking is an issue w not enough spaces for number of units. Husband needs a cane for walking so parking off site makes things difficult. Communication w host prior to checkin was not good w a simple request to cancel one week dragged on and on.

Hi Eileen
I’m sorry your husband had a hard time walking with his cane, we are very upfront with the fact that parking is on a first-come first-serve basis. In the rare instances that all the spots directly behind the building are occupied, there is free street parking right by the condo. Again, I understand if he has a hard time walking…perhaps next time choose a condo that has assigned parking if you can find one. Best regards, Ana

very good/excellent
The location is excellent, a block from the beach, easy walking distance to restaurants on 5th avenue and 3rd street. The decorations are cute and there were all sorts of needed utensils, plates, glasses ect...The kitchen was cramped and it did not have ventilation directed outside. This limited cooking. Parking is available but the parking spaces are not assigned to each condo; its sort of first come, first serve. This made it a little competitive for parking. One night parking was not available to us. We assumed someone in the condo had guests?

Hi Bill
We're so glad you enjoyed your stay at our condo at Fifth Avenue Beach Club. You're right about the kitchen being very well equipped though not a huge kitchen. Hopefully it served your needs well enough and you were able to prepare meals "at home" on those nights you weren't walking to dinner along 5th Avenue. We'd love to have you stay at "The Cottage on 5th" again. ~Ana~
Clean throughout - inside and out. Furnishings in great shape -- drawers pulled easily, plenty of hangers, doors solid, A/C worked fine as did overhead fans, beach chairs in great shape. However, windows were in an outside corridor so no views -- dark & gloomy inside despite light, neutral decor and furnishings (minimal Florida-kitschy themes); building wasn't designed for views! Half of venetian blind-slat-turners were broken (though opening would reveal interior to anyone walking by!). Hot water took forever and then wasn't very hot. Crowded for four senior-age adults. Local agent unresponsive before trip, and not genuinely welcoming. I had no inclination to contact her for information; maybe that's what Naples has become. No instructions for TV, Nespresso. Limited food storage; plates & utensils new and "above average" feel and appearance. Two-block walk to beach. Sad to provide this unpleasant review.

Hi Alice
So glad you found our place clean and well equipped. We work very hard to make sure our furnishings are of the highest quality and everything we provide in our condo is great quality as well.
~As for your remarks about the space being crowded for 4 adults, the square footage is clearly on the listing and if you felt that a 2 bedroom/2 bath condo of that size wasn't large enough for 4 adults, perhaps you should have rented one of the $15 million dollar homes that surround the condo, they are much more spacious.
~You mentioned that some blind openers were missing, it would have been much more effective for you to notify us of that while you were staying there so we could remedy the problem. This isn't our primary home and we only know of problems when a guest alerts us, and you can see in the reviews that my husband is amazing at remedying any issues incredibly fast and our guests have always been in awe of how helpful and fast he attends to any needs they have. Same with the hot water...had you told us WHILE you were there, we could have fixed that for you.
~You called me "unresponsive before the trip". I have exactly ONE message from you before check-in day and I responded and answered your question exactly 19 minutes after you asked it. If you feel that is unresponsive, well, I'm pretty sure that's an issue for you to work on, not me.
I noticed you didn't mention in your review that you never contacted me to ask if you can have an early check-in time but instead just went to our condo and tried to let yourself in 2 hours before check-in. When you tried the code so many times that the system preventatively locked up and had to be reset since NO ONE WAS AUTHORIZED to enter at that early time, you called me and spoke to me like I was your servant. You were unpleasant and rude to me in a way people don't treat each other here...and you were in the wrong.
I have rented from many owners on VRBO and never did I feel entitled to let myself into their home early without permission. That's just common courtesy and sense. Next time you rent from someone on VRBO, you should follow the rules (and be nicer when you break them!).

updates needed
This unit is in serious need of updates. The front door mat is worn with age, oven door blocks a kitchen drawer, ice maker doesn't work, and a toilet handle is loose (reported but not repaired). Storage space is inadequate. Cabinets are completely full of items of little or no use to people on vacation for a week or even a month -- food processor, blender, hand mixer, waffle maker (still in box) crock pot, and various odds and ends - dishes, cups, and plastic glasses, etc. - that look like remnants from a rummage sale. Bedding and bed pillows are stored in the bedroom dressers and closets where visitor clothing should go. All this was communicated to the owner who replied that the unit is for sale, and they are not interested in committing money to improve it, content to let new owners deal with the problems. The unit is on the second floor so renters must be willing and able to haul belongings up and down the stairs. The building itself is well maintained and in better shape than it was a few years ago when fruit from date palms (now removed) littered the patio attracting rats. Patio is now a pleasant place to spend an afternoon enjoying the sun. Parking is and always will be a problem, 13 units, 9 parking spots, first come, first served. Overflow parking on the pay-as-you-go street. Main reason to stay here is location - short walk to beach and restaurants. The price is steep. Worth it? Maybe. Depends on unit, not this one. This condo rates a 2. Location bumps it a 3.

RoseLynn,
Your review is shocking, vindictive and not true. If you believe the unit needs updating then perhaps you shouldn't have booked it because it looks EXACTLY like the pictures with 2 exceptions: we've replaced the couch with a beautiful, expensive, white Ethan Allen couch and we've replaced the dining set with a brand new white dining table and chairs...both are obviously upgrades to what's shown in the pictures.
Let me address your other concerns:
Front door mat is aged. Yes RoseLynn, that happens in the harsh S. Florida sun. It's a doormat that you wipe your dirty feet on, pretty sure it still worked great!
You said the toilet handle didn't work. That claim cost me a visit from our handyman just to be told it's not broken. I'm sorry if you had to hold the handle down an extra second to be sure it flushed.
You complain that my kitchen is too well equipped...that I should remove items so that people have room to store the things they brought with them like you mentioned in a message that you brought. Things like a French press coffee maker, espresso cups, mugs and champagne glasses. Guess what RoseLynn...99.9% of travelers do not bring their own champagne flutes and espresso cups...good thing I thought ahead and provide that for people who want to come to FL on vacation and not pack their china cabinet to bring along.
You chastise me for having items available to our guests like a blender and slow cooker. You are welcome to not to use them if you don't need them, but we've had guests stay up to 3 months and many of them are SO appreciative that we didn't cheap out and put the bare minimum in our kitchen (again, not too many of them traveling with their own blenders for smoothies).
You mention our stuff looks like it's from a rummage sale...OOOOOOFFFF! It's not. Not a single item in our condo is from a rummage sale or even 2nd hand store. Perhaps you didn't have little kids with you who needed plastic dinnerware, some guests do.
You complain that we store extra pillows in the closet. Was that really so offensive? Is there somewhere else that would make you happier to see extra pillows so guests have a choice of firmness with the pillows they use?
You are NOT telling the truth about what I said regarding the refrigerator...I pointed out to you that the listing shows that there IS NOT an ice maker yet you continued to harass me about not having an ice maker and told me I should replace the entire refrigerator because of no ice maker and a flimsy plastic bottom shelf. I communicated to you that the unit is up for sale and it makes no sense for me to replace the refrigerator when the new owner will likely remodel to their own taste. THAT is what I said and you should not misconstrue and tell untruths.
The unit is on the 2nd floor. Always has been, not a surprise. If you didn't like being on the top floor I'd suggest booking a first floor unit next time.
Parking...parking is on a first come first serve basis as are most parking lots. Listing mentions that as well.
RoseLynn, I'd suggest next time you book a place, you read the listing carefully. If a home doesn't have an ice maker, don't book it. And if you do book it, don't continually complain to the owner that there is no ice maker...there's still no ice maker, or massaging bed, or butler or courtesy Ferrari. Still not included...don't give me a bad review for not having a Ferrari for you when the listing didn't say it came with a Ferrari!
Seems to me you might be better off staying at the new Four Seasons that will be up and running soon...feel free to pay $3000 per night there. But guess what...they don't have ice makers in the room either!!!
Best of luck to you wherever you travel to next year...and best of luck to your poor landlord.
Apartment has everything you need and more beach two minutes walk is excellent, restaurants on 5th are expensive to say the least , odd bar the same, lots of rich kids full of themselves, Naples very quiet, I know it’s off season, but wow I would say it’s not for anybody who does not want to look at themselves 24/7.
I loved the location of this rental, but the unit needed updating, and the floors had not been swept. I swept up dark hair from the bathroom floor and grit from other rooms. Clearly, the cleaning service didn’t do a proper job.
We travel to Naples a couple of time per year and this is the best place we have stayed at. So tastefully decorated and the owner has thought if everything to ensure a comfortable stay. We struggled to go out some evenings as the condo is so cosy and comfortable. Wish we could have stayed longer but next time for sure. The location is the best as its right in the middle of 5th & 3rd s an easy walk to restaurants etc. Feel lie I want to keep this place a secret. Thank you Ana!
Excellent, well-equipped apartment. Short walk to the beautiful beach and also to the shops and restaurants. The owner has thought of absolutely everything. Will definitely come here again when we're back in Naples!
Owner of the condo was super sweet. We were in walking distance of the beach which was nice with having a little one. Condo was clean and the beds were very comfortable! Highly recommend for a beach vacation!
Highly recommend this property and Ana (and her husband)! Loved our stay and Ana was very responsive in our communication. Very pleased with the property and the location. Thank you for a wonderful time in Naples!
